Hi all,
Since F-Class was introduced, our club has included F-Class and Target Rifle scores together in calculating the weekly handicap trophy winner.
This has been achieved by dividing the F score by 1.2 to give it a value out of 100. And working the handicap as per normal.
This worked fine when our two F-Class shooters were just the old blokes who couldn't do it off the elbows anymore. But now nearly half the regular weekly shooters are F-Class and as each of them moves across from TR to F-Class, their new F-Class averages start poor and then improve. In doing so they pick up the weekly trophy most weeks.
So we are currently debating whether to maintain this system or have two weekly trophies.
What does your club do? If you handicap together, do you divide by a factor of 1.2, or use the shots dropped basis?
Club handicapping - together or separate?

Hi Sambo
I came up with a different approach for results, I dropped the handicap completely and use the center count.
F/B get there centers for 6 and supers
F/O & F/S for supers only.
I keep the codes separate, and award 5 points for the highest center count on the day, regardless of the main score, then 4 point's, 3,2,1
So you can have a guy shoot 100/3 but the guy with 85 /10 gets the 5 points, the 100/3 might only get 1 point
Our total scores for the day are used for the club championship's.
I use the two best scores for each range to give a total out of 1200/240 for F/B and 1440/240 F/S&F/O
I know it sounds strange but we are 3/4 the way through the year and it seems to work.
An example of our F/B center count points score
.....Center Points...............................Club Champ Score
Shooter A 73..........................................1172/107
.............B 71..........................................1071/95
.............C 75..........................................1149/80
............ D 70..........................................1099/75
Our F/S is similar
A..58.0..................................................1217/59
B..53.5..................................................1252/70
C..55.5..................................................1303/48
D..53.0..................................................1306/69
As you will see the high score's are not on top of the center count, the guy's like the idea and all were surprised how close the results are.
Any way that was my way to liven up our Saturday arvo, so far so good.

Sambo,
We do our F Class handicap out of 140 . ( 60.10 +60.10 )
and our TR handicap out of 120. (50.10 + 50.10 )
So we have 2 separate handicap systems.
Works real well for us, we don't have any 'divisions' between our F Class and TR shooters - quite the opposite, we all get on like a house on fire.
With the scoring as it is we found this to be the best solution.

We use a common scoring system TR FS & FO all scored out of 100 for each 10 shot round.
So handicapping across discipline was a no brainer
We have since change to 50 per ten shots (long story)
Anyway the same handicapping will apply.
We award a hat badge to best shot of the day with handicap applied.
Then we have discipline awards top A grader Top B top C Top FS and Top FO
Throughout the year we have allotted championship shoots each discipline collects points feom each championship they attend they are then added up at the end of the year for the club champion in each discipline.
we also run a challenge board this also is across discipline run under the handicap system there is a list of shooters and you can only challenge the person above you this also accrues challenge points which we award a trophy at the end of the year.

We normally shoot two ten shot matches, therefore our handcap is out of 120. In f class supercentres are not counted, in target rifle centres count as 6. Best 3 of the last 4 shoots are averaged. ie someone shooting a average of 105 has a h/cap of 15. It then works on percentaged saved.
Seems to work quite well with both T/R and F Class both having a chance.
