WARA Queens

Post by Peter Hulett »

WARA are trying something different this year. The result of every shot will be streamed on the internet as it happens. Each competitor has been issued with a smart card programmed with their name and when inserted into the monitor for the electronic target they are individually identified.

Live streaming is available via a link on the WARA website
www.wara.asn.au
It is a small step but the potential for spectators into the future is huge.

The webpage is very much a work in progress, but it serves it's testing purpose and gives us something to look at.'

Kongsberg isn't that far away from the "control room" software that will automatically do all the score collations and stats. Getting people to log on/off with their smartcard each time will be the biggest shift and this is a bit of incentive to get them in the habit.

You're right Peter, the potential is huge. Imagine this combined with the ability to get a reminder when someone you know is shooting and log in to watch, use of webcams and live scoreboards/leaderboards.

Now if only the wind would drop/change direction a bit we would be able to start shooting! The heritage listed mounts at Swanbourne can't take 30 knots from behind.

Good luck Peter. I hope the wind drops so you can conduct the Duke and the Queens.

It would be awful if the whole shoot had to be cancelled due to strong winds as the Veterans shoot was last Friday so I understand from a competitor.

Weather for the weekend is looking good, but still a bit average today. Will be packing sunscreen, big drink bottle and a hat for saturday/sunday.

Today has been cancelled due to weather. Strong SW winds and frequent rain squalls make it impossible to shoot regardless of what targets were being used. Weather should improve tomorrow and with a combination of early starts, late finishes and the efficiency of the ETs they hope to catch up on lost ranges in the next couple of days. Fingers crossed.

The weather has totally cleared over night. Very light easterly winds and clear skies at the moment. I'm looking forward to getting some rounds down range.
