2208 BURN RATE CHANGE?

Post by Jase PTRC »

How much variation in muzzle velocity could there potentially be from one lot of 2208 to the next in a .308 rifle? Is there such a thing as a bad batch of powder?

I've never noticed differences between one lot and the next. Perhaps I've just been lucky - you should read the recent thread regarding AR2209.

A quick velocity check with a chrony will tell you. Usually if its faster or slower you can adjust charge to get back into tune.

I don't believe there such a thing as "bad batch" as long as it isn't too old?
I have seen 2208 vary between lots with 185gr in 308 Win about a half a grain which is only about 1% really. Similar with 2206H which is the other powder I mainly use.
