Your Thoughts on Sightron Rilfe scopes please ?
Hi . Just doing some research for when and if the time comes . Has anyone had experience with Sightron Scopes , namely SIIISS1050X60FTIRMOA? And would they recommend it for F Class ?

I haven't seen that size Graham but the ones I have seen are very clear. Good quality Japaneese made.

Thanks Tod ! Are they good as a nightforce ? Just comparing them to a nf competition are they the same playing field and where does one buy one?
Ps I only neck size ! Cheers.

Hi Graham if not as good very close to I think you would have to put them side by side to tell the difference. Usually a fair bit cheaper too.
Good eye relief as well
Cheers Tod
What type of dies do you use

Re: Your Thoughts on Sightron Rilfe scopes please ?
I own 3 Sightron scopes. Two are 8-32x50's and the other is the 10-50x60 LRMOA. All of them are nice optically and appear to be as good as most of the Nightforce scopes I have looked through and superior to some. I haven't checked out the latest Nightforce offering though. I had mine modified by the factory prior to delivery to have 1/8moa turrets as the LRMOA reticle was normally a 1/4moa turret. Tracking is superb, no issues there. The parallax adjustment is firm and sensitive. This can take a little to get used to.
There is an upgraded version of the 10-50x60 called the SVSS I think that is about $1000 more. Very nice scope that has a parallax adjustment with coarse and fine adjustments. The LRMOA reticle should be available as well as 1/8moa turrets. The turrets may have to be specially ordered as a factory option. This scope has had very good reviews and it held its own against an equivalent Schmidt and Bender.
If you go with the standard 10-50x60, order a sunshade with it as they are not supplied with the scope though they are are with the 8-32x50's. The 8-32x50's are an excellent scope too and great value for the performance you get.

I have a 50x sightron and a nightforce comp, both are good scopes nightforce wins out on clarity especially at high magnification, zero stop is a nice feature and I do prefere the turrets on the nightforce because they are a lot clearer and have a lot more of a notch to each click
The only real bad thing I can say about the sightron is the parallex seems very touchy in my experience but for the money you can't really go wrong

Re: Your Thoughts on Sightron Rilfe scopes please ?
I had a Sightron 8 - 32 X scope many years ago. A few weeks later, after a comparison between it and a NF BR 12 - 42 I and another person bought a Nightforce.
It is possible that other Sightron 8-32 scopes are a little better.
Since then I have seen some Sightron 10-50s that seem a little better and I know a few people who have used these very successfully.
Certainly, Sightron is one of the 'cheaper' riflescopes I would consider but many who economize seem to end up spending more on upgrading their riflescope anyway.
I would never choose a max magnification of 32. Not that 50 is needed but 40X is commonly used to advantage and you can always zoom down.

Hi Peter , I'm afraid my love for Miliradians has caught up with me ! Now being on a development squad for the worlds next year . I'm borrowing a nf competition of another generous squad member (JR)
Now if by chance of a major mirical ! I made it it onto the AU team!Would you take a Sightron or a NF Competition scope to the worlds ?
Thanks for the other inputs too!
Regards Graham.

Hi I have a Sightron 8- 36 x56 and I just love it and there was a cost saving on it compared to night force but in saying that they are a great scope you will not be disappointed with either one

Re: Your Thoughts on Sightron Rilfe scopes please ?
My experience with a Sightron 8-32 x 56 hasn't been quite as joyous. It was never as clear as the Leupold 8.5-25s I already had and I only bought it for the 1/8 adjustments as the Leupolds are in 1/4s. The adjustments have proven to be unreliable and it sits in the cupboard gathering dust. I should probably send it for inspection/repair but instead I've just bought another Leupold.

Exactly Graham. As you've seen, most sing their praises but I thought I'd share my experience for your consideration. Another experience I'll share is that the preparation and prosecution of these overseas campaigns soaks up a bit of money. This might be considered a reason to reduce costs but, if I can mix my metaphors, there's another side to the coin and why spoil the ship for a haporth of tar? Will the difference in price between the Sightron and, say, a Nightforce or March be significant overall? What are the consequences of a failure while you're away? Only you can answer these.
Best of luck with it all.

Re: Your Thoughts on Sightron Rilfe scopes please ?
I've had experience with Leupold, Nightforce BR, NXS and Comp, and a Sightron 10-50x60. Of all those, I believe the Sightron is probably worst in optical quality, but only marginally. Its important to compare scopes side by side using the same magnification to get a good comparison. My first Leupold is extremely clear, but only goes to 20X max. So I compare the others with it at 20X, and they're very good too
.
I haven't had any mechanical problems with the Sightron, and use it regularly. Not sure why, but despite its optical inferiority to the NF Comp, it seems to make the mirage easier to read. Peter may offer an opinion as to why that might be. I'd recommend the 10-50x60. However you might also consider a used NF at about the same or lesser price.

I Have a march 10-60 and 2x sightron 10-50s.
This may raise a few eyebrows but I use the sightrons more.
The main gripe I have with them is the length of the turrets(when packing for travel) which must be 2x that of the march.
