Getting aggressive

Post by Brad Y »

Haven't been able to shoot as much recently with our range closed for a while but in OPM's I have found my x count to not be as high as it should. I feel my rifle tune is sound although I have recently bumped up my charges for winter as the velocities dropped a little and the SD/ES has opened up which could have made the groups a bit taller and more hollow than I would like. What I'm wondering is would there be a method to training that will promote a better x count. Our last event I only dropped the last shot at 1000yds and am happy enough with the rifles performance but I feel as though I could be more aggressive and shooting 60.8's not 60.4's

Any suggestions?

It might be, but the sport is at the level where x counts are really starting to matter. I believe it's actually been a problem for a while. I think I'm very conservative when shooting and need to push more. Just not sure what the best way of achieving it would be

I hear what you are saying as my x count has been not as good as what the gun could do! Last Opm I missed 2ndoverall on x's and missed day 3 1st place on x's . But those 2 shooters are very good ( world champs and it shows) I got to spend a bit of time with one of those top shots ( Mark Fa.......n) and one of his words were . Shooting 25 shots ( qld club) at club once a week is just surviving and not getting anywhere! Just before that Opm he reportedly just shot 50 rounds one after the other consecutively in a training session . He is always shooting and competing at the top level ( international level too). And that is why I said he is pure class!

I think that is the difference, it's just hard work and time ! ( money too ) . The mirical touch to keep finding that x ring even in crap conditions is just hard work . Natural talent only gets you so far ! I really enjoyed going up against him and my club mate . But yeh they are just on another level.
Just have to get out there and shoot more ! And for me stop fidgeting around in my position and not overthink the conditions!
I think that's the biggest problem for me anyway!
