Re: What calibre?

Are you averse to fireforming? If not Dasher comes to mind immediately. I had a 6.5x47L (2 barrels) and shot the 130’s out of it, recoil is mild and when it’s humming it’s humming. However I found it frustrating and finicky week to week to the point I have ditched all my 6.5x47gear in favour of the ...

Re: Help... Hero to zero in one range

I am a middle of the road F-open shooter. I like to think most days at my home range I can pick the conditions. Usually I hope to score between 87 and 90 in a 15shot stage. Not on Saturday though!! See below to see what a gentle but constantly switching mirage can do to your groups!! Use it as a lea...

Re: competitor marking

While I would rather not have to mark if I can avoid it we certainly had a good time marking with our Bisley partner at Ungarie.

You need to make your own fun a little. We started taking to letting out a little cheer for every X.

There weren’t a lot of them at 9 and 1000yards :D

Re: NSW F-Class Association Match

Congrats on the win Geoff, I didn’t know you were up the top in the scores either. So hard to know when ge conditions are so tough. Was definitely a challenge shooting pairs on such a tricky range, but I am pretty sure I learnt a few things along the way. I personally would be up for another Bisley ...

Re: NSW F-Class Association Match

Just a heads up to those travelling to Ungarie.

On the Saturday there is going to be a unveiling of a giant Sherrin football in honour of the Daniher brothers and a friendly footy game afterwards.

I would say the pub is going to be a very busy place on Saturday night.

Re: 6.5 SLR

It’s my aim to burn a few 6.5x284 barrrels in my time just to say I had one!! I personally don’t find my straight 284 with 180’s any more difficult to control or slower to shoot than my 6.5x47 shooting 130’s (note I cannot seem to master free recoil so shoot them both with a hold) Also at the shorts...

Re: 6.5 SLR

I wonder if the release of these heavy 150gr 6.5mm pills will revive interest in the 6.5-284?

Would seem to be the logical choice to get those pills up to speed.

Re: 6.5x47 FIRE FORMING

Work up to 37.5 gr of 2208 with the Berger 130VLD, you should find good accuracy even while using fresh brass. I have found virgin brass to be very accurate in my 6.5x47 and would use it in club competition or midrange OPM. If you want it to be a little more consistent maybe you could run a 6.5mm ex...

Re: Is the .284 obsolete now?

We recently had a NSW teams practice at 900 and 1000yards. Besides one 284shehane we are using either SAUM or straight 284win Under coached conditions the 284's seemed to be holding better vertical than the SAUM. Whether that be because the 284 is easier to handle or that the SAUM is a little more t...

Re: 130 gn for 6.5x47 Lapua

Played with a new Bartlein on the weekend.

There is a node in there between 37.5 and 37.7 of 2208. Very similar to my Maddco but it looks like 37.7 is the go in this barrel!

37.5gr of 2208 jammed 0.010 works a treat in my Maddco.
