Re: Tips for those with an open mind

Gman, I think you have to have a foot in each camp on this one, depending on conditions. But I can say, some barrels do not tolerate various degrees of cooling with variable time intervals in waiting things out. Tests from the machine rest at 1000 yards from a dozen different barrels I used perform...

Re: Tips for those with an open mind

It’s definitely a skill which I do use as well as shooting slow . I think for me the next step is to have the nerve to wait out the rough stuff for the allotted time or at least till the 3 minute warning and with the speed that I can now shoot hopefully jag a better condition. In Wa I don’t think on...

Re: Should I go an 8 twist in a 7 mm?

Deep breath..... ok I’ll come out !! I’ve ordered a bart 8.5 twist 32” ! It will be chambered with the same reamer hopefully ( Pesco ) in another 280 ai . To add to my Saum . The 280 ai for me , has just been ultra reliable with 2209 and 2213 sc in combination of internal chamfering of the flash hol...

Re: Brass prep

What annealing method does everyone use, I’ve been surprised by the amount of people who do, I saw one amp, gas by hand or machine? Rich I do mine by hand , I love the amp machine but with all my other hobbies, I can’t seems to find the $2000.00 . I use a map torch spun up cases in a drill and a da...

Re: Should I go an 8 twist in a 7 mm?

Can’t speak for any other caliber, but the Krieger 5R 1:8 barrel on my 284W does the job well with 180 ELD-M’s and the Berger Hybrids. It has been incredibly easy to tune for and has shot exceptionally well providing I do my part. I haven’t had any issues with anything blowing up. Thanks for the in...

Re: Brass prep

I hate case prep and reloading . I would love a bullet Fairy!! Every time I opened up my ammo box , it magically refills with perfectly weight sorted , primer chamfered, neck turned , annealed , powder to the kernal , 180 hybrid to the 3 thou , harmonically tuned 60.10 ammo !

Re: Should I go an 8 twist in a 7 mm?

Just mentioning Pinjar , brings back good memories! It’s nearly a month now and I believe it claims the toughest range in the nation . The SA boys can argue about lower light . But I don’t think there would be too many that would disagree?? I’ve never seen split mirage and took me right up to the en...

Re: Should I go an 8 twist in a 7 mm?

I’m obtaining about 80 184 copperheads length 1.575 to see if I can get them to shoot in a 9 twist in a 284 w at 2830 FPS and in a fast 7 at 1000 yds at Belmont. Unfortunately I am time poor and Belmont is a 3 hr drive . So testing will be limited and will this head and tail winds show up to test ag...

Re: Should I go an 8 twist in a 7 mm?

What Bruce said. 9 twist will handle any sensible to use 7mm bullet!! Unless you want to make some of the overweight bullets work......that no one else has been able to get to work ..........consistently and for what gain???? I imagine you have heard the term.....point of diminishing returns???? Ke...
