Re: Junior shooters new rig

Yeah my plan is to run Berger 108gr BT (first choice).. Might even give the 110gr SMK a go aswell. Looking at all those cartridges they are all very similar, id be looking specifically at brass quality and availability before making a decision... (Im glad I got my norma XC brass when I did) The Dash...

Re: Junior shooters new rig

Ben,

I went with the XC, over the dasher mainly to eliminate fireforming of brass.. I dont think there is any trade off between the two cartridges if anything the XC should give him "marginally" better ballistics.. (Nut driving it still has to do his part )

Re: 280 AI information Blog

Graham,

If your going to switch out barrels, just run two scopes, one sighted in for each barrel, run on a pic rail job done.. Ive done this many of times after taking down rifle to recrown barrel, put back together and had no point of impact shift what so ever...

Re: Problems with CCI 450s

Steve, The top two cases went bang... The bottom two is the result of trying to rely on neck tension and a jammed bullet to hold the case against the bolt face while fireforming to a dasher. This is a headspace issue ONLY.. This would not be an issue if he created a false shoulder in the neck, befor...

Re: Problems with CCI 450s

The 450's dont have a problem like the Br's any isuses with 450 is probably headspace. I have fired thousands and thousands without a single issue. Those having issues are you full length resizing? My guess is yes and you are getting head space wrong. Chris =D> "PRICELESS" See Equipment a...

Re: Problems with CCI 450s

A member from my club had issues with 450's at a prize meeting, where he had nearly 20 miss fires and tried another bolt before giving it away... He ended up giving me that brick of 450's.. My young bloke has been using them all year in his dasher and hasn't had a single miss fire...

Re: 155gr bullet choice for 1:13 twist

Peter,

You will have no problems stabilizing any of the 155gr projectiles allowed in fstd, with a 1-13 twist... I would recommend the berger 155.5gr fullbore, these are very forgiving projectiles...
Hope this helps

Re: 7 mm 178 copperheads blog

Geoff,

The 178gr bullet Graham has in his photo is not the 178gr VLD bullet you are thinking of which did require a short throat... This bullet is made on a new set of dies... With a 189fb it will seat 3/4 of the way down a 284 neck comfortably and touch the lands..

The problem here is the barrel has never been cleaned properly from the beginning, and the fouling has compounded up until this point..

Re: Cleaning Rods. Coated or not

I have never had a drama with dewey rods, i put my first product in with a can while the barrel is still warm and leave it soak for 4 to 6 hrs before I put a rod down.. First patch always will fly out the end with no resistance with alot of black and purple goo in front of it.. Good bearings are a m...

Re: Copperhead projectile approval?

"the nraa's cut" the bullet tax. rumour has it that there is discussion at high levels to limit fopen and ftr bullets, so a similar tax can be put in place. argument being that fstd and tr is shouldering an unfair financial burden compared to ftr and fopen. bruce. I hope that is just a ru...
