Maybe a help for those that don't use the web much.
I posted a 'wanted' on this forum (yeah, I know, asking for trouble straight up.....)
Received a private message saying "email jason....."
see below
First up, you never go outside the forum you are on AND only ever deal with people you actually talk to - if they won't ring or take your call after swapping phone numbers then you're sure as sh#t not going to send them money.
Give aways this is a scam;
Asking me to communicate differently - in this case email (bet it would have been, "Yeah here the scope is, I'll post no prob, just send $4000 to the bank account xxx/xxx"
User has zero posts and the forum account was created that day (warning bells a ringing)
When you click on user "therfwd423" (top left) you get "doesn't exist". Scammer would have created and then deleted after sending private message
Also, scams often have funny language - seriously, what Aussie says "Have a nice day"
Sniper Hide has just implemented a system whereby a new member is colour coded orange as a warning

Forums are used to take money from those that don't know better.
Beware guys, this type of thing will only get more common

Same email from the person on two topics in WTB.
Time to have the person banned for life.
No I didn't reply either.

Had two in one day.
Both used the same parrot language.

Re: Scam - how to spot one
I think we had 3 new users (US IPs) within a couple days prior to these PMs, it was reported to me mid morning and they were banned almost immediately.
It's a rare occurrence but it can happen.
The only reason they were allowed in was because of the APS, I thought there may have been some US interest.
I will be looking at implementing some restrictions for new members, particularly with foreign IPs.
