Rankings Past Their Useby Date?

Post by AlanF »

Hello all,

Probably not all forum members are familiar with the ozfclass rankings, but they have been on the website for over 10 years now. I have continued to keep them updated, along with the Kings results pages since the website handover to Graham Willis. However the time has come to decide their future as I will be ending my involvement as at the end of this calendar year.

Before asking for expressions of interest for keeping them going, its probably sensible to find out whether it will be a worthwhile thing to do. How many of you look up the rankings, or are even aware they exist. The F-Class Queens/Kings results pages go back to 2005 which is significantly earlier than the NRAA results. Can we rely on the NRAA and/or Hex Systems to preserve a complete record from now on, and is our competition history that important?

In case you aren't familiar with the rankings, click on Rankings in the Content menu above left.

And please respond to the poll below. Note you'll need to be logged in as a member to do this.

And if you want to leave a comment about your choice, please do so.

Thanks.

It would be a real shame not to have a history of our sport well maintained, especially on a forum dedicated to it.

I like the idea of the rankings and I believe they are a more accurate representation than the NRAA rankings. Just my 2c

Always good to look up previous results and check on rankings

There was talk of the NRAA adopting the same system. In my opinion the system used here is a lot more relevant than the NRAA system, I would vote to keep it.

It must be a great effort to run the system - I greatly appreciate the resource, and hope for its continuation.

Alan

The Oz-Fclass rankings is and have always been the only measure of performance in Australia. We cannot afford to loose this valuable resource however do understand that it has taken a tremendous amount of time and effort to maintain. I truely hope that a way can be found to maintain both.
