National F Class (Open & Standard) Membership Nos Survey

#1 Postby John S » Thu May 26, 2011 8:27 pm

NRAA board member Bob Pedersen is trying to estimate the number of "F" Class shooters there are currently in Australia.

NSW F Class President Greg Warrian has agreed to co-ordinate the survey.

Details regarding this important survey can be obtained from the NSW F Class website www.nswfclass.com.au or directly from:

http://www.nswfclass.com.au/nsw_f_class_002.htm

Please complete the survey as soon as possible so Greg can complete this important project by the 30 June 2011.

I assume that where a person shoots both Std and Open you would prefer them to be listed in the one they predominately shoot so as to not duplicate numbers. I ask this because depending on the use to which the numbers are put, resulting information may be skewed. Although there probably aren't that many that shoot both.

In WA there are a few that shoot both, as there are not that many F Open competitions.

Where members shoot both F Class open and standard this could be noted on the return survey. The total number of F Class members will then be reflected in the "Total" column without duplication.

Returns are starting to roll in already. It would be great to get behind Bob P and aim for 100% return.

John,
Believe this would be better done thru State Assoc's as not all read this site.

But those who do read this site can send it on to those that don't.

Eventually we should be able to get the coverage.

Barry you have a point, however I am sure Greg and Bob would have discussed going through the various state associations if this was a viable option.

I have contacted NRAA to place a link on their website and will do so for the other States and Territories as well. In a perfect world these stats should have been ready available to NRAA board directors.

In the meantime lets all get behind the project and pass the message to our local club people for their response please.

Cheers

Both Disciplines

#8 Postby bartman007 » Fri May 27, 2011 11:09 am

You may find a surprising number of F Class Open members shooting both Std and Open.

Depending on the prize meeting in Victoria, (some don't run Open events), then you will find most Open shooters using their Std gear to compete.

A quick way to gauge how many there are in each discipline (in Victoria) is to look at the VRA Gradings page. While this only lists those that have attended OPM's, it will be a good starting point.

Barry,

Vic State Association might cooperate, but some wouldn't bother if Geoff Robert's frustration with the UIN system is anything to go by. I think its best to just get as much as you can from any source, then fill in the gaps by contacting anyone you can in the missing clubs. Its never going to be 100% accurate because numbers are continually changing, but should hopefully give some very useful information.

I have posted the request on Woody Engineering's facebook page, which has a number of AU members, and also emailed WA shooters in my contact list.

If John is prepared to run a list of clubs that have made contact -- state by state, I personally have no problem in contacting as many of the Vic clubs as possible. I think with a little effort we ( on this site ) could get most clubs on the list.
For Starters--
Castlemaine -- 6 F/S no F/O
Lancefield -- 1 F/S no FO
Maryborough -- 5 F/S no F/O
Kyneton ------- 2 F/S no F/O

All of Tasmania

17 F Standard
0 F Open

Once I have some reasonable (approximate) figures, I'll post them here.

I Think you'll be surprised at how many there are.

P.S. All this wouldn't be necessary if the NRAA had a national database of shooters. We (the NRAA) don't have any names of shooters in the states at all. Just numbers based on Subscriptions. That's all the States supply.

Victorian numbers from the VRA gradings pages only

#13 Postby bartman007 » Fri May 27, 2011 2:27 pm

Victoria:

141 Standard
31 Open

That is based on what the VRA has on its website at the moment. These are active members that are attending prize meetings only, I believe.

It at least will give us all an idea of how strong F Class is around the states.

I know at Canberra 2010 the figures were:
Lead Up: FO 12, FS 54, A 50, B 14, C 8 Total: 138 shooters
Queens: FO 18, FS 73, A 91, B 25, C 10 Total: 217 shooters
As per the white board in the main building.

I am getting emails back saying the email address supplied is bouncing the emails back.

You may need to supply an alternative email address.
