F CLASS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2013

#1 Postby John T » Wed May 11, 2011 6:52 pm

I am reliably informed that the 2013 FCWC will be held at Raton NM in
August 2013.

There will be Individual and Teams Matches in Open and F/R-TR-STD.

ICFRA Rules will apply. F/S shooters should check them on its site; eg,
no front rest, only a bipod. (Same Rule applies in the US.)

This is a MUST event for Australian F Class shooters, both Open and
Standard.

I would expect an Australian Restricted Team to be a near certain
medalist. Open faces a daunting prospect, but a great challenge.

I fully intend to be there! I will be competing in F T/R.

So much talent in one place. What's not to love about that!

I think you guys are jumping the gun (haha)
The NRAA has to call for nominations for team officials and also for firers. I dont think there are self appointed positions on the teams.

I will be there for the individual shoot whether I,m picked for a team or not. The shoot is still over 2 years away and with the general increase in scores in F std and F Open I hope we should be in for a medal chance in either class, but the F std/TR team would be likely to get a very good coloured medal if our best shooters decide to build a F/TR spec rifle. Of course, the teams would have to include all of our best shooters to be in the top 3.

I dont think i fall into the "very best" catagory but im certainly looking at building an f/tr rifle for the America Match and the World Championships. Plenty of time for practice ;)

This will be an ICFRA event, so F Open and F T/R only.

For any success, the team will need the best coaches, a top captain and manager, as well as shooters. I hope the whole group can be found.

My attitude is similar to Rod Davies. The US Nationals and FCWC individuals are well worth going to regardless of whether there's an Australian team for 2013. I've learnt from last time (Bisley 2009) that while many will be very keen on a team about 2 years out, as the time draws closer, most will drop out. What I think is needed is to select the team very early and get some commitment (possibly in the form of a bond, only refundable if you do actually go). Sounds harsh I know, but there were too many "tyre kickers" last time and the team didn't happen.

I know Bob Ped is onto it, so the opportunity is there if people are genuinely interested. But the NRAA was apparently quite disappointed at what happened last time.

I agree Alan verbal commitment is cheap
If the individual is %120 committed paying a bond woundn't worry them.

i know that if i was selected and not saying for a second that would happen but i wouldnt have a problem making a commitment in the way of a bond. I personally would hate to be selected and then have members pull out at the last second

2013 FCWC

#13 Postby John T » Thu May 12, 2011 5:39 pm

Deano, as one of only three Australians who competed at Bisley in the
2009 FCWC, I can confirm disappointment, frustration and
embarrassment as some of my emotional responses.

However, it needs to be recognised that, with hindsight, that Team was
never going to be a reality. There was far too little time to form a team
by following the usual procedures of leadership appointments, trials,
selection of coaches and firers, team practices and so on. We got no
further than the appointment of Benn Farrawell as Captain, with a
variable number of shooters who wanted to go.

Let's make sure we get it right this time. There's just under 2 years and
3 months before the Teams fly to America. NOW is the time to start
thinking realistically about how you might be part of a well led, well
equiped and well prepared Team.

As for a bond, it would not have worked in 2009 and it won't be needed
for 2013, if we get it right. And if we don't, it won't matter.

I personally am very interested in what will develop over the next 12 months, i see it as a considerable investment to compete in terms of equipment as i currently use a front rest and have my rifle very close to 'our' weight limit. In saying that i see it as another challenge to adapt to the f/tr requirments and look forward to trying something 'different'.
