No 1 DRA Prize meeting (Horsham)

#1 Postby Barry Davies » Sun Aug 26, 2012 6:18 pm

A quick reminder for you blokes, This weekend coming (1st and 2nd September) Its fathers day weekend, so "The Mrs and kids wont let me" is not a good excuse!

2 days of great competition.
7 ranges (3,4,5,6 on Sat, 5,6 and 7 on Sunday)
Good facilities and plenty of room in the club house to lay a bed out.

This one has been fairly poory attended by F class shooters over the years but to their credit they have stuck with us. Not sure how many more chances we will get so lets show some support to make it a certainty for next year.

Who's up for this one?

Adam Davies.

I'll pack an extra 'shower in a can' for you Danny, Besides, I go to shoots to clean up, not wash.

Looks like the old faithfulls will be present and accounted for as usual.

It would be bloody nice to see a few new faces doing the rounds though!

Danny, Maybe you can try and convince these blokes it's not scary to travel off your own range once in a while and their attendance would be greatly appreciated by the organisers and shooters alike.

Mmmm, I'm still considering a swag, but Adam, I'm not a young buck like you, I need my beauty sleep (yeah, I know it hasn't worked so far).

Must admit though it is a bit appealing, long time since I have slept on a range, other than my grandpa naps.

The thought of competing in open company, be it individual or teams, frightens the living daylights out of some people.
It's the age old fear of failure. Mostly brought about because we think we are better than we actually are, and the thought of this being proven otherwise is terrifying.
My suggestion to those who have this problem is find another sport--preferably one where you are the only competitor, because in this sport of such exacting requirements you are going to fail more times than not.
To those who stay at home within a specific comfort zone, your shooting life is far from fulfillment, you simply don't know what you are missing, and the more you compete the less that fear becomes.
Even the best of us get nervous under pressure. Not much good having the tightest grouping rifle if you fail under the pressure of competition.

There is much more to this sport than hiding behind your local range, AND you, the membership, owe it to those organizations who put in the hard yard organizing these competitions for your benefit. So how about some more support for those organizations and at the same time an enjoyable one or two days are guaranteed.

Bring back Gelignite Jack, thats about the only way to move some people, anyway, I'm grooming some recent converts, so here's looking forward to next year.

See you Saturday, Barrý

Good PM, ran very smoothly, great weather, what was that round yellow thing in the sky?

Congrats to the winners and also all the other competitors who at times had to try and handle some tricky little changes.

Well done Wimmera Rifle Assoc.

Cheers
Danny

ok,
now that's over, it's time to start thinking about the sara queens and the savage cup for ftr.
come to lower light.
the underpants soup is magnificent either as a meal in itself or as an entre to a meat and veg main course in the big hall at night.
see you there,
bruce.

Whilst on the subject of PM's, notice on the flyer of an up and coming PM in Central vic ONE badge only for FO.
Hardly attractive to large numbers of FO.
Maybe the Vic F Class Assoc could include it on their list of things to do for the betterment of F Class and barter for more badges ( at least 3 )
