Do you have to be a member of a club to shoot??
Do you need any other liscenses other than a shooters permit and a registered rifle??

P,

Sounds like you need to join a club, and you'll be okay. It could be done in time for Friday but far better to start shooting on ordinary club days, every Saturday avo at most clubs.

http://www.ozfclass.com/starting/vicstart.html should give you all the info you need. We'll look forward to seeing you on a range somewhere.

Ogre,

I got confused about dates. I'm sure you could go to a couple of Saturday club shoots AND join a club AND go to the Australia Day shoot.

Further to my post above re Australia Day at castlemaine.
In the past this medal shoot has been closed to all but No4 DRA but due to lack of support from No 4, the Castlemaine Club has taken over the running of the Comp. and it is DEFINITELY OPEN to all and Sundry.

For Those interested,
33 shooters braved the tricky rear wind at Castlemaine yesterday.
A very pleasing result for the organizers.
There were 17 F class and 16 Fullbore.
Medal winners were-
FB A Jenny Davies 149-15.
FB B Tyrone Keel ( C/maine ) 145-10 on CB from Mick Wilson B. Marsh.
FB C R Herron ( Vic Police ) 132-6
F Class A Adam Davies 169
F class B Alan Scoles ( C/maine ) 169
F Class Open Wayne McFarlane ( Bgo ) 275. Tom Holinger 272. Paul McCarthy 268.
For those who didn't come, thats another one you missed out on.
