Another Aussie world champion
Local junior shooter Lachie Adolph, has just returned from Raton USA where he won the Junior 50 cal shooters Association world championship.
He shoots with his father at SSAA and at Mildura R range in F-Open. He was recognized as having potential at a recent 50 cal event at Warracknabeal Vic. We just need to convince him to attend the junior clinics for the Australian Junior team.

Congratulations Lachie,
We at Warracknabeal are proud of Lachie's achievement, even more so that Lachie chose to compete on our range in his lead up training schedule.
Go Lachie.

Great news. Does anyone have any more news on this. A young Aussie bloke winning a 50BMG World Championship, Fantastic.
I will likely be shooting a 50 BMG at the next Warraknabeel shoot, hopefully he can give me some tips on shooting the big 50.

It seems that a number of local guys went over to Raton to shoot in various classes and they all shot extremely well. Lachie was sponsored and was supplied with an excellent gun. He said he went just for the experience but must have decided to have a crack. the Saturday he suffered a few nerves but came back hard on the Sunday to post 7.125" groups twice to take the win, beating a previous 3 time winner. He has only one small problem now, the Model EX Bat action he won is being turned into a full 50 cal gun by a top US Gunsmith complete with barrel and stock, then to import it.

Well that’s not too much of a bad problem to have.

Hi Fella's. Just stumbled across this thread while cruising the forums and have only now figured out who Rebel 105 is. G'Day Geoff and cheer's to you Mick. I happen to be Lachie's proud Oldman. Thanks for your congratulations to Lachie. At just 13yo, his achievements in Raton where far more than we had dared to dream of. Scoring for the Junior World Championships is based on a combination of score and group size. For every point that you drop they penalize you by adding one inch to your combination group size. You shoot 6 targets over two days. They then add your combination groups together and smallest aggregate wins. Possible for each target is 50.5/50.5. For example; If you shoot a 7" group with a score of 48, then your combination group becomes 9". Lachie knuckled down on day two to finish with two consecutive 50.2/50.5 with 7" and 7.5" groups. The 10 ring is the same size as an F-Class 6 ring at 1000 yards and the X ring is the same also.
Rod, It would be terrific to have you shoot with us at Warracknabeal. I think there is one in the works for later this year. Mick would know more about dates than I do.We have the Australian FCSA 600 yard titles in Mildura the last weekend of September but as Geoff has suggested we will be travelling to Canberra for the Junior development program that weekend.
Just need to make some corrections with regards to Lachie's prize. Have to keep the sponsors happy. The action he won was a McMillan Rocky 50 BMG action.
As we only shoot 50 cals prone in Australia, We've decided to get a prone rifle built on a Manners LRT carbon fibre stock, 34 inch Krieger barrel, Terminator T6 muzzle break, Jewell trigger with a Phoenix precision F Class bi-pod up front. The build is being done in the U.S by John Buhay with Mark King doing the chamber and machine work. We intend to shoot it in the U.S next year then get it home.
Thanks again for your congratulations,
Regards,
Owen

The next shoot is the FCSA 600 yard Australian titles 28-30 September in Mildura. Fifty Cals on the 29th and all calibres on the 30th. Info here - www.lrsc.org.au or the "Long range shooting club Mildura", facebook page. There are no 1000 yard shoots in the calendar for the remainder of this year.
Next years calendar will be worked out in November. 1000 yard titles around March/ April 2019.
Cheers.

Re: Another Aussie world champion
oldman , unfortunately us Qlder’s haven’t seen the light or make that weapons lic hasn’t for 50 cals and even 338 lap mag ( correct me if I’m wrong ?) are 338 -300 RUMs or other 338 variants aloud to compete against the big 50’s ?
Regards Graham.
Ps as far as I know 50 cals are Cat R in Qld and lap mags I don’t know anyone that has been able to aquire one up here .
Also I didn’t know this , but congrats to Michelle harbour winning the inaugural 50 cal event(2016) ! A bit of inspiration for other ladies and shooting a large cal !!

Re: Another Aussie world champion
Iirc it is the 50BMG that is specified as prohibited in QLD. Theoretically that means other 50 cals aren't, but good luck. I know a few people with 338s but there are a few hoops to jump through to get one, membership of 2 clubs that can cater for it being one of those hoops!
One might try to get a PTA for a humble 254 and hope WLB dont ask ,,,,

For those of you who followed this thread last year I'd like to let you know that Lachlan has last week been successful in winning back to back U/18 World 1000 yard FCSA 50 Cal Championships in Raton , New Mexico, USA. He also came third in the open 600 yard semi auto class.
