Re: Given Current Component Availability...
When I get some of Ken’s new pills I’ll do some testing and let u know . I hope others can share their experiences with them too! We should support Aussie made !
Ben , 8.5 twist would do it adequately. 9 twist is the least one would go . The Sg calcs ( this is coming from somebody who thinks he knows something!) are made up from a consistent density from base to metplate. However, Open tip match don’t have lead all the way and are hollow about a 1/4 to the tip just with the jacket . So in theory 9 twist might do it fine. It will come down to dynamic stability at lower speeds .?? Can really only do that in testing .

Thinking outside the box a little. How do the 90’s go in a 22BR??

Re: Given Current Component Availability...
I once built up a 22 PPC using 80 Grain Sierras. 1 in 8 inch twist. It was deadly accurate at 300y.
For man years John Baxter used a 22-250 over all ranges and did very well with it but it was a serious barrel burner. A 223 run hard with 80 grainers is also a bit hard on barrels.
Personally, I now would leave 22cal alone. I believe 6mm or 6.5 much more sensible. Or 308 for that matter.
BTW, this list of cartridges seems to me a fairly accurate indication of just how hard various cartridges are on barrels.

Rod,
As far as I am aware, his heaviest 30 cal is a 168gr. The 175gr, 190gr and 208gr VLD are still coming. Ive got my name down for some 208gr VLD for F/TR

Re: Given Current Component Availability...
I already use Aussie brass (Bertram) brass so am interested to see how Ken's projectiles would go in a 284. Pretty good I would reckon.
