Indian made O.V.F military spec large rifle primers
Hi All
Looks like we have a big batch of these Indian primers hit Australia.
Its finally made its way to South Australia!!
What has everyone found that have had a chance to use these in 284 , 7mm RSAUM or 300WSMs
I usually use CCI BR2 but running down on these and keen to hear what others have found on these Indian primers.

At what point after reading Indian, and then military, did you still think they’d be good enough for F Class?

We can only hope, unless you have 2000-3000 Br2 that you’re willing to sell…

Just clean your barrels extremely well using them primers. If the ex military stock from from.india could be mercury based primers

Thanks for the advice.
Barrels kept clean after every shoot. Besides, will be used in practice barrels

These are NATO spec. primers specifically made for 7.62 x 51mm M80 Ball ammunition. They aren't mercuric nor are they corrosive.

OFV has a contract to make these primers for the US military. I have tested them and have found no real difference in elevation when compared to federal gold. Information from bench rest shooters in Sydney is that the cups are a little harder and they are a little hotter. No reports of misfires at all.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the update I will do some testing on my SAUM and 300wsm when I get them to see if they are close to BR2s

Strangely, some of the best primers available have been the cheapest ones available, usually from developing countries. While Russian primers (Red Russians) were available from PMC, they were loved by BR shooters and savvy F class shooters for their consistency and low ES/SD as well as their bargain basement prices. After that, the dirt-cheap S&B primers became the holy grail for knowledgeable F class shooters for also giving low ES/SD. I am not going to give up hope on these new Indian primers.

I got 2000 of these primers now and will be testing 5 shots of each CCI BR and Indian primers against these in my SAUM this weekend.
Will post the update here so we can all be aware of any increase in speed etc.

Re: Indian made O.V.F military spec large rifle primers
I did some quick testing on these Indian primers.
They seem to be not to bad but lifted my speed in my SAUM running 2209 about 32 FPS
This was compared to CCI BR primers and I only did a 5 shot test alternating between 1 CCI and 1 Indian primer
My ES was not good and had a 17 ES on cci and 18 on the Indian so both very close.
It sound like they are midway between Magnum primers and large rifle primers as a Magnum primers got me in the 45 to 50 FPs increase when I tested the other year.
If you are close to a hot load don't change to these primers without taking some powder out.

Can confirm that they seem to be changing the load/node
Shot a few groups at 700 on the weekend out of the 308. In the morning in windy conditions, my Fed210 load shot a nice elevation for 90.10, then the OFV primers opened up the vertical and dropped 3 shots (2 shots out at 1oclock)
In the afternoon in almost no wind. 90.5 and 89.5. Dropping one low. Vertical dispersion much larger.
Definately need to adjust your load to compensate.
