Good evening all,
I have been given nearly four kilos of 2209, does anybody have a sucessful load for .308 with 155 grain Dyers and OFV military cases.(I see 2209 is listed in the SSR's)
My normal powder is 2208.
Kind regards, Tim

2209 loads?
Tim
There probably are no successful loads using .308 155g projectiles and 2209 powder. The powder is just too slow for this weight of projectile. In .308W you need to use 210g projectiles and heavier for this powder to start burning properly and to develop decent pressures.
Find someone who is shooting match rifle and sell the powder to them or shoot F Class Open with heavy bullets and fast twist barrel.
Regards - Phil

Thanks Bruce,
Good results you would have to be happy,
I have a bit of 2208 left but am down to my last few old style Dyers, if I wish to keep going will have to switch to the new HBC, that load would move fairly well. I am still considering what I am going to do, I may give F class another few months we will see.
I was using 2206 before 2208 but reckon will go to 2206H when I run out as it will do more for me over a range of calibers.
Kind regards and thanks,
Tim

G'Day Tim i forgot to say i am coating my bullets with Tungsten Disulfide so you may have to start your load below 45 grains my barrel is a MADDCO 1X14" twist 3 groove.308 BR Barrel 28 "long using ADI cases 184 grains and the barrel has 1814 rounds through it and i am still using the same dummy seating bullet that i made when i first set the bullet seating depth.Brucetimothi3197 wrote:Thanks Bruce,
