Hello Bob,
5/11/2011
Thanks for the phone call on discussion of the innuendo that there may be a problem with the current batch of lot 16 HBC projectiles, in which you asked if I would be prepared to test them, I replied I were more than happy to do.
I received the Lot 16 HBC bullets from you this week along with note informing me that they were unsorted straight out of a carton.
I also were given a hand full of lot 16 HBC projectiles from local club member Dr John Kiefer to test with the projectiles that came from you.
Visual
Both offerings from the two sauces looked identical and visually nothing that I could nit pick about.
Basic Measure
I measured the base to ogive on the Lot 16 projectile offering's from Bob and John, measuring with my comparator which has been machined with a throater reamer to inshore proper measurement position on the ogive where the barrel lands would engage the projectile.
Lot 16 HBC offering from Bob measured .532" I found .0005" deviation over twenty projectiles.
Lot 16 HBC offering from Dr John Kiefer measured .534" I found .0005" deviation over twenty projectiles. Purchased from VRA.
Loading
Lapua Palma case.
CCI small rifle magnum primer.
45 Gr AR2206H.
All Lot 16 bullets were seated .019" off the rifling.
Barrel used
34 inch Rock creek
5R rifling.
12.4 twist.
Dr John Kiefer arrived at my residence today at 3:30PM he handed me his Lot 16 projectiles and observed me seating them along with the projectiles from Bob Dyer Lot 16.
After loading we proceeded to the Bendigo Wellsford rifle range. Before test firing we chronographed the loads.
Chronograph speeds.
I brought along my Oehler Chronograph and which showed both offerings were identical in velocity.
Mean speed 3007 fps
Extreme spread of 14 fps
Mean spread of 4 fps.
Test firing for score:
Dr Kiefer marked the 300 yard icfra target for the test.
Conditions were very good, waiting till the late evening would assist firing goods shots without worrying to much about wind.
Fired in standard prone position.
Results scores achieved
Bob Dyer's offering lot 16 projectiles SCORE 50.10
Dr John Kiefer offering lot 16 projectiles SCORE 50.10
What can I say
Nothing, results speak for them selves.
I were asked by a few shooters what I thought of the lot 16 Dyer projectile while in Brisbane ? Where I replied that I could not comment as I have never shot them still being on my lot 15 HBC projectiles.
They were a real treat to shoot Bob, I believe Lot 16 is the result of new owner's efforts so congratulate him please from me.
I normally run my Dyer bullets not that fast around 2985 fps how-ever they shot as good as anything I have seen.
I have copied in some people on the test who I am shore will be interested in the scores result. 100 %
Regards Geoffrey Grenfell

We have done a little testing up here and I can say without doubt that SOME (at least one box) of LOT 16 is OUTSTANDING!!!. Very little variation in bullet weight or base to ogive length and several 3 shot 300 yard groups the size of 5c pieces. 5 shot groups under 0.15 elevation at 300 too. Some others up here have also had outstanding success at long range (900 and 1000yds).
HOWEVER. Please note that LOT 16 only refers to the Lot of Jackets. This Lot (A million or so) makes many "batches" so it is feasible that a batch or two may still be faulty. There is certainly enough respected shooters around suggesting so. Unfortunately there is no further identification of batches on the box!
