I am considering rebarrelling my Savage F/TR to a Maddco match barrel. I am unsure of whether or not this will be a worthwhile exercise seeing as the factory barrel is a 30" 1:12" twist heavy profile barrel already, and the replacement barrel would be the same length, twist & profile.
I am wondering if a match barrel will be significantly better than the factory barrel and if it will give me any noticable difference in accuracy.
At the moment, the rifle is stock, and it shoots pretty well as it is (around 0.5" for 5 shots at 100m), I plan on getting the action glass bedded as well. At the moment I am using 168gn Sierra Matchkings because it just seems to hate 155gn projectiles, which excludes me from F-Class Standard competition.

Quinny,
How many different loadfs have you tested with the 155gr projie's? Could be you havent found the right load yet. I think that rebarreling any factory barrel to a match grade barrel will help but also depends what you are seeking as every barrel is different.
