Body die

#1 Postby Brad Y » Mon Nov 12, 2012 3:33 pm

Got my reamer now for my 6.5mm project.

Starting to look around for dies and since its a wildcat there arent any standard dies available here just wondering if its possible to use a 260 case with 30 degree shoulder in a 6.5x47L body die or if I should look at a standard or AI 260 body die.

It would be a lot easier to to help you if I knew more about what your 'wildcat' is ...
If its a 260AI then use 243AI dies
If its a 6.5-308 then I think Redding may make them.
If its a complete wildcat then wilson in line dies or a custom FL die will work

Dave

Its a 260rem with a 30 degree shoulder. Just not sure if the standard 260 body die will still bump the shoulder or if it wont do bugger all since the shoulder angle has been changed. Not sure if the entire shoulder gets bumped or just the shoulder/body junction.

The standard 260die wont work due to the shoulder angle but I am pretty certain that Redding make a 260 Imp 30 degree shoulder die set. Should be readily available from Sinclairs or you could use the 243 Imp with 30 degree shoulder and just have the neck reamed out to suit.
Peter Van Muers at Pro Cal may even have something on hand.

Yeh thats why I wanted to check. So it would fit in the standard body die (I already have a 308 so that will work) the only thing is will it bump the shoulder/body down or will it do nothing at all.

Been trying to buy a type S FL die for this exact round from Robert Whitley in USA but I dont know if my emails are getting through.

Neck sizing can be done with a collet die and seating with a standard seater.

His phone number is given at the top of the page. Why not give him a call?
