V Block Bedding

#1 Postby carlread308 » Fri Jan 10, 2014 7:27 am

After having much trouble with my rifle , a fellow at the club suggested v block bedding. Will this make a significant difference to accuracy?

Carl,

The main advantages of V-Block bedding are they are less exacting to fit, are very resistant to moisture or oil etc, and once done they rarely need doing again. Note that not all actions suit a V-Block - they need to have a round bottom.

You'll notice I didn't mention accuracy as an advantage. They are no more accurate, unless of course your current bedding job has a problem.

I have often wondered about the "Flexiblock" system which utilizes neoprene strips in the v-block design. Presumably it is for damping vibration.

Commonly used in CG based outfits. Anyone using them?
