Winning Rifles at Berger SW Nationals Teams Event in the USA

#1 Postby ecomeat » Mon Feb 10, 2014 4:19 pm

Team Grizzly, comprising Shiraz Balolia and 3 of his mates, along with Wind Coach Trudy Faye, have just taken out the Teams event at the Berger SW Nationals, at Phoenix Arizona, setting Ntional Records for 800 yds, 900 yds and 1000 yds along the way.
I asked him on Facebook what calibres they used, and he replied that it was "a 284, a 7 RSAUM and two 300 WSMs" He thought that "the 284 peashooter was the high score for the combined match"
I personally couldn't handle the recoil of of the RSAUM or the 300 WSMs, so I love reading things like that about my humble and non exotic 284 !
Does anyone know yet if Janzso is going to Tasmania ?

Tony wants a shot at a BIG BOOMER by the sounds of it!

FWIW Tony, a 50lb HG 300WSM was blown clean off the target at the weekends 1000ydBR that we had here. The overall small group and high score of the day was won by a bloke with a 308 shooting 155gr bullets in a mauser action with well over 10,000 rounds on his barrel. He still pops in the odd 59 and 60 too laying down! Now hows them apples!

When we strip him in the late evening, all present will see the large "QLD" firebranded on to his buttocks, thereby making it illegal for him to shoot in the Teams for anybody else...........unless of course those shameless North Queenslanders have claimed him and put him in their team of Champions !

Actually just hoping to catch up with him for a beer. It's a bloody long way frm where he lives in Western Qld to Belmont, and we haven't seen anywhere near as much of him as we would have liked to have done, over the past year, even if he does go on about "time's a wasted, what's not spent shooting ....300 WSMs"

Too true. We had in excess of 10 top shooters try out for our team, and it sounds like the other states had quite a few too.

It might be worth floating the idea for the next event in 2 years time.

PS: Does anyone know where we are going next?
