Yes I reckon it could be a great 1 gun for a queens but so is a 284
Ask wild dog about them. He and Vince ran a couple up and they were working very well.

Chop,
I have been shooting a 284 Shehane for the last few years at all ranges (300 through) and switched to the RSAUM for this years Nationals. I am happy shooting both all the way but if I was going to choose one all rounder it would definitely be the 284 or 284 Shehane. Great Barrel Life, great accuracy and superb velocity spread to keep em in the middle form 300-1000.
In saying that I think the 7-08 AI, 7*57 AI, 284, 284Sh, 280AI and RSAUM are all bloody good. Spoilt for choice we are.

Here is my 7-08ai
I am still developing a load for this rifle but it is showing good velocity.
It had its first run at a teams shoot at Rosedale on the weekend. Gave me the chance to validate my velocity and get an idea of its wind drift characteristics.
Time will tell how effective it is for F-Open.

ben,
the 7x57 ack would be perfectly suited to 2209, and easily do the high 2700 node, and probably the low 2800.
decent brass is available.
lower recoil than the boomers would suit older people like myself.
nice long neck to protect the throat.
shooters who in the real world can tell the difference between the mid to high 2700 node and 2900 are either very very good, or if not are in the land of imaginitis.
keep safe,
bruce
