I am starting to collect components for reloading 300 WSM
Does anyone have any advice for powders, projectiles ?
Winchester Brass was under $1 each so I got 100 for starters
(Nosler and Norma were $3 !!)
Thinking Berger 210,215,230gr
2213SC ? or 2209 ?
300 WSM advice

I'm running a 1:10 twist 30" barrel.
62.6g of ar2213sc, 230g Hybrid targets and Federal GM210M.
I use a .006" jam and seeing as I haven't had the chamber cut for the 230's they sit quite deep in the case. The load is just shy of compressed.
I've cronied them at approx 2730fps through a Beta Master..... or masterbater
This load is consistantly less than .5 moa. Its mostly always 4 shots in a little bug hole and a flyer to open up to the .5.
I figure for a 1,000 yard gun thats good enough for me as my wind reading isn't as finely honed as some of you guys here.
Also, where do you stop load testing a .300wsm with a 1500 round barrel life.
I haven't accertained yet whether the flyers are caused by me or whether there the typical "Hybrid Flyers" that have seemed to be present with all cal. hybrids I've used.
My barrel needs 10 foulers after a clean before it starts grouping tightly (first I've had like that).
A 10kg outfit combined with a X-coil recoil pad is very comfortable to shoot, even prone. I could honestly do it all day.
Oooh, almost forgot. I'm using Norma cases. In 100, theres 6 grains difference. Weight sorting in .1g increments is a joke. Not like Lapua.
The pockets are holding up well, though my loads not hot.
I've had a neck split and found a hairline fracture in 1 case running across the body 2/3 of the way up after 2 firings. Looks brittle.
I FLS every time to only bump the shoulder .001".
Hope theres something useful in there.
Cheers, Denis.

Thats very useful, thanks
There is also the 208gr A max with a very respectable BC, that would get alot more velocity in a wsm.... i may get a box or two of those
hopefully ill get 2000 at least from the barrel......... it has to have better life than the longer 300 winmag
I must admit i have had flyers too with hybrids.. in f std berger fullbores seem more consistent, although hybrids might have the edge at longer ranges (yet to be determined)
I think for the price ill try the winchester cases for starters
i only ever full length resize with minimal shoulder bump
cheers andrew

300WSM
I have also been using the 300WSM for F Class. I use a 1.25" straight profile Krieger 1:10 T barrel, Barnard Model P action and fited to a MBR copy tracker stock with weight inserts in the but with a Decelerator recoil pad.
My loads when I started used Win brass neck turned and weight sorted in 1gn incriments. I got best straight up accuracy using 2209,CCI BR primers and Sierra 220 gn MK's. I then got the bug to try Berger 210gn VLD's and the accuracy was also great.
I then got the bug to try (sorry Bruce ) Norma brass and that was 5 or more years ago and it is still winning for me. But with the Norma brass I had to drop my load 2gn's compared to the Win brass.
I have just neck turned a bag of Norma brass that was from a different batch and it is 4-6gn's lighter than my original batch, I'm not sure what to do but one things for sure I will keep it separate maybe sort a load with 185-190gn Bergers for the shorts.
Cheers

janzso is the main man of the 300wsm.
anyone who has seen him in action can attest to this fact.

Bruce I jus† figured there are too many guys getting 7mm rifles, and I wanted to be a little different. There are some great 30 cal projectiles out there and 7mm bergers are becoming like hens teeth.
Shame we can't use a sharps quigley 45-110 but our ranges have an 8mm limit....... In fact I thought about a 325 WSM (8mm)_ but there are just not enough good high BC 8mm projectiles out there !

macguru,
i and others have shot against janzso on many occasions with our 7 mm, only to slink off to lick our wounds again.
his wsm seems so honest, which allows him to focus on the wind and aiming.
i wish i could handle the recoil of one but i can't.
as an aside, bpcr is in the rule book, so your range might be like ours, and approval can be obtained. this is standard pretty much world wide.
keep safe,
bruce.

I just thought I would chime in about brass cases. I have got a 300 WIN MAG up and running, I know it's not a WSM but I opted for Noslier brass. I went to weight sort the first box and there was a 3/10ths grain difference through 50 cases.
But when I started with the 300 WSM, I used Winchester brass and it was also great but needed sorting into weight lots.
Cheers
