G'day Guys,
I went to Hilltop on Saturday to try F open with my LA102 223 and had a great time!
I had never fired from so far (300m) or from the ground but the fellas there were very helpful and I managed a 56/4 and 54/2 with 55gn Blitzkings.
Without knowing the discipline I was missing some equipment.
I am after some advice regarding good quality shooting mats and where to get them please.
Cheers Steve

Good work for getting out there and having a crack and nice shooting that's a pretty good score for your first time.
I'm pretty new to the sport. So have been adding to mt equipment over the last little bit.
Not sure how much you're looking to spend. I bought myself a hopton shooting mat with the cut out for a rear bag. Really happy with the quality of it.

I'm starting to think that my 6 foot $30 piece of Canvass tarpaulin with custom bag cutout provided by myself is inferior!

Re: Shooters Mat
Get one with a vinal / poly underside. Helps prevent grass, prickles and dirt sticking to the mat

UL1700, Mate I like your way of thinking. Found a 4x6 foot canvas tarp online $35.90 https://www.snowys.com.au/canvas-tarps is that similar to what your using?

Yep exactly the same, just layed my setup out ontop (offset to the right as i shoot a LH action right handed), drew arround my rear plate, smeared the outline with PVA glue, waited for it to dry and cut it out. I then re applyed the glue both sides and it has been perfect with weekly use for the last year with no fraying. Keeps you dry, clean and folds up nice and small in the car could be more padded but suits me.
Cheers, James
