Looks like great fun but, sadly, the MR team will be in the UK then. Maybe next year.....

the email address is missing an "s".

Looks like a great shoot, I wish there were more opportunities for shoots like this, I'll try to get there,, I used to shoot at Atherton back in the late seventies and eighties when working in the area, suppose it's the same range?

Same range Dave - just beside the township to South West
Rifle Range Road on left as you leave town!
No more than a couple of minutes out of Atherton

What a great weekend shoot. Very challenging conditions with Bisley adding just another bit to cater for.
Big thank you to Shane Green for putting it together, the Atherton club for hosting, Betta for doing all the stuff Betta does, Steve Laz and Josh for ROing and the other shooters.
It all came together to be a great weekend.

Received the following report and photos from the organiser - Shane Green:

Our local World Champion FO coach Steve Laz managed to pip Mark Azzo by one point!
Shown on the 1000 yard line with his Bisley partner "Dutchy" from Mackay.

Every competitor thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to shoot "International Style!"
They have convinced me to run it as an annual event. Date for 2020 TBA.

Had the company of another World Champ on the line in Rod Davies competing in F/TR for his first foray!
A barrel that didn't want to play was a major hurdle for Rod.
He promises to return next year with some mates and his FO rig!!

Saturday greeted us with Atherton scotch mist!! And held us up at times with almost nil visibility at 1000 We shot 800; 900 and 1000 on Saturday consisting of 15 + 2 convertible at each range Bisley.
Manual targets and competitor marking with a 2 person relay on each target.

Sunday was 2 x 20 + 2 at 1000 with very tricky quickly switching winds in both strength and direction.
But a beautiful sunny tableland winters day topping out at around 21C!
Plus or minus a minute at the click of a finger! Very easy to go from a Super to a 4!

Got to mention the support of the Cairns Rifle Club was fantastic with many attending!
Josh Cox, Dennis Russell and Mark Azzopardi had just driven down and back to Belmont.
They all fronted for the Bisley Long Range Challenge along with the ever hard working Betta Gianasi who also had done the long Belmont drive.
Betta was responsible for shooting an excellent score ; marking and as well getting our scores onto the website!

Thanks Shane for running such a great event and to Betta for her assistance as well, it all went very smoothly. It was great to catch up with the FNQ lads again as usual, a top bunch to socialize with for those who aren't too easily offended. I can see myself making the pilgrimage again next time, quite easy to do with the cheap airfares and ease of flying with a rifle.

Best part really was 55 rounds Bisley at 1000 yards on manual targets within 24 hours I reckon!
We just don't get that opportunity at any Australian matches!

And the Bisley format meant barrels didn't heat as much as a 10 shot string fire event!

man are those mounds steep.
you could take cover behind them.
shooting a big hitter might require crawling back up the mound between shots.

Oddly enough, that's what they're for.
We just don't need to, so we lay on top.

The mounds actually weren’t as steep as they looked in the pictures. I think it is more a case of the cameraman and shooters standing on a funny angle for the first range of day 2.

What happened in Atherton stays in Atherton. and no sheep were harmed in the making of the photo shoot you alluded to.
