How long can you leave quick scrub solvent in the barrel.

Post by RDavies »

I have heard good things about the new Quick Scrub solvent made in OZ, so I have a big bottle of it now, but I have a question about leaving it in the barrel. My usual (lazy) cleaning method is to run 3 wet patches through the barrel after a shoot, then patch it back out when I shoot next, sometimes up to 6 weeks later (real high tech hey?). Does anyone know if it is one of those solvents which can be left in a barrel for an extended time, or will it start to react with the barrel metal after a while?

Short Scrub is designed to be left in.

You may leave it for any length of time you like, however, after after 2/3 days it will have become benign but will still have the oil base.

I recommend you change it at least weekly.

Thanks Tom. So it ends up leaving an oily layer to pretect against rust does it?

Yes.

It is oil based unlike some on the market that are water based.

My contact details are on the bottle if you need them.
