sights for a newbe

hi all, i finally got my fullbore 308 rifle.payed $400 for her old parker hale with mauser action , she has very old sight and being very new to the fullbore sport (not even put a round throught her yet) i am looking at puting new front and rear sight sights on her. can anyone tell me what to get and where from? as i dont now brands or even what they are called
pics would be a great help, another quick question are there any magazines i could buy to read up on?
