F CLASS STATE TEAMS
It seems a battle again after a good start to get state teams together again , segregation may be the problem, CAN we have a combinded state F CLASS state team match ???? instead of FO and FS ???, separate, Could we have a mixture of say five FO and five FS as ONE team ???, this would also save a lot of trophy, money and office work and a chance to COMBINE, it seems a simple solution, and easy ???, is it that easy ???, Ime keen, Chop. ps , lets just call it F CLASS STATE TEAM ??.

Copper the FCASA pushed for this in 09 State Teams all shooting on the same target with superV and one team of F-Class as you suggest representing their state.
But there are ppl with in that want to keep it that way (separate)
And the way it’s been dragged around the country like some side show or an opportunity to get more numbers at the host state Queens is a joke.
You only need to join the dots in regard to the NRAA board to work out what’s gone on.
Just have it alternate between Bendigo and Canberra or what about Alice Springs that's fairly central
I sent and email to NQRA over a month ago asking some questions about the event still no reply.

there must be something about rifle assns in northern climes.
the ntra also seems reticent to answer emails.
the climate must be too sophoriffic to bother with such things as answering emails.
one wonders why they bother to advertise an email address.

Numbers
Just because the states may be short on F Class team numbers, that should be no reason to combine both classes into one.
F Open and F Std should both have their own comp. They are clearly 2 different classes. Canberra showed there were enough people to field teams to make the competition worth while.
After all, the Open guys would be propping up the Std scores if it was a combined team
As for location, I think the NRAA could look at minimising the travel required for team events. Moving from Mackay to Brisbane would assist the NSW / VIC / TAS / SA teams substantially.
While I've resigned myself to the fact that it is in Mackay, I would be a lot happier to have it in Brisbane! And I'd suspect that we may get more people putting their hand up to be in the teams too!
NRAA, as the shoot is quite a way off, is there scope to change the venue?
Maybe the states that are having problems mustering teams (Vic included!) could go back to the members, and ask the question, if the shoot was in Brisbane, please show your interest.
If that is the difference between fielding a team or not, then maybe the NRAA could reschedule the event.
No one wants to win a competition that is tainted by not having enough competitors!!!
If it would help to field a team, is there scope (pardon the pun) where a shooter can be a member of both teams? Or even be the reserve for the other team?

Ideally you'd have separate Std and Open Teams, but there's nothing technically difficult or inequitable about a mixed team, so long as there's a maximum number of F-Open shooters in it e.g Team size 8 shooters, maximum F-Open 3 shooters.
For a permanent venue, how about Coonabarabran!! Its plonk in the middle of all states except WA, but they've got the resources boom and plenty of money to travel
. At Coona you've got a very generous and enthusiastic land-owner, and a rural town that's right behind it, and a new range that goes back a loooooong way (distance-wise).

State Teams
Alice Springs has a great shooting venue.
Looking at the map, it seems like it is central to most or the majority of shooters.
What about holding next years Team Shoot there ?

I remember this discussion happening when the state teams matches were first brought to the table. From memory Canberra was the place of choice since it's most central to the eastern states.
I understand that every state wants a crack at holding the event and reaping the monetary rewards , but, in reality most states will have trouble fielding a team to head so far North or West for a number of reasons. Canberra is the place for the teams matches, Good facilities and a generally comfortable place to shoot and stay for a week. Bendigo would be another option as far as a central location goes but the facilities are piss poor and it's not a nice place to stay on range. Canberra is the best location for fielding strong teams and I think we all know it. So are we for the betterment of the sport, or is it just a money grab?

If you care to do the math, in terms of road km's from each state Capital to each other state Capital and then include Coonabarabran and Alice Springs, it comes up like this --
Bendigo-- 13767km
Coonabarabran-- 14325 km
Canberra --14371 km
Mackay -- 19987 km
Alice Springs -- 22650 km
Perth -- 30633 km
Does'nt matter where it's held somebody has to travel, but as can be seen Bendigo is the least km's travelled followed by Coonabarabran and then Canberra.
Cannot comment on the facility at Coona but Canberra is better than Bendigo, and Canberra has an international airport within 15 mins of the range.--- Obvious choice to achieve the most number of teams competing.

Barry,
What happens to those figures if you remove WA? Would probably make Canberra better than Bendigo in road kms?

Canberra it is then
I'd hate to go against great logic.
Canberra it is then.
How about we send a letter to the NRAA and let them know the good news
We the members have worked it out, saving them so much time. And they don't even have to worry about the politics of who picked which range for what personal reason.
We don't have any hidden agenda's, we just want to have a good shoot at a venue that is hospitable.
Heaven forbid, the next location could be cape york, if they have a range? Watch out for the crocodiles when you go up to the butts to mark.
