Stars and Stripes F Class Goodwill Team 2012

Post by Southcape »

Stars and Stripes Match Raton New Mexico, September 2012.
Reconnaissance trip for the FCWC in 2013

Spirit Of America Match, USA F Class Nationals followed by Stars and Stripes Match!

Over 650 rounds! Phew! That's some serious shooting!

The NRAA does not wish to support an F Class team to this event, so I'm looking for the shooters that will attending this competition anyway to form a Goodwill Team.

There are a number of us, with contact made to people that have already expressed an interest. If you have not received an email and plan on heading over, please PM me your email address, and I will send you the flyer for the above matches.

The team is made up of 4 F Open and 4 F/TR shooters, plus coaches.

Hello Linda,

The SoA/SSC/FCN will be fired starting with Spirit of America/US Fullbore Championship (SoA/FBC) practice on September 8. The SoA/FBC (300, 500, 600, 900 & 1k matches) will run from Sept 9-15th. Team matches included.

The Stars and Stripes Challenge (SSC) team matches will be held on the 16th (three 15 shot strings at 1k). The SSC is for mixed FO & F/TR teams of 8, but 4 man teams may shoot alongside.

The 2012 USA F-Class Nationals (FCN) in 2012 will be shot all at 1k. FCN practice is on the 17th and matches run through the 21st. 130 rounds individual and 40 team (4-man Teams). So you can shoot for 14 straight day including the practice days. Great training for the FCWC in 2013.

I am looking forward to seeing F-Class shooters from down under attend part or all of the festivities.

I was looking at last years course of fire which Jannie Els sent me. The Spirit of America matches loked good, from 300yds up, as we do.
But now the Nationals is all 130 shots at 1000yds, no 600yds like last year?

Mr. Davies,

Let's make sure we are on the same sheet of music. My last post covers three separate championships. The SoA/FBN, the SSC (a one day affair) and the FCN. The SoA/FBN remains basically unchanged. The SSC is new.

The FCN has been change to delete the 600 yard shooting. It will be only 1k from now on. This is a 99% done deal and will be voted on by our NRA BoD in January. The new course of fire will be - 3 strings of 15 at 1k for two days, then a 4-man team day (2 separate matches and a paper aggregate of the 2 for the team championships). The final individual day will be 2 strings of 20 shots at 1k. The individual championships will be based on 130 shots.

The change was brought about for a number of reasons. Simplify match setup and statistics were part of it. All the target frames/faces can be the same. No yard line changes during the team matches. It even makes the practice day simpler.

Stats are easier since only one classification (long range) will be used. We have a mid-range(300, 500,& 600 yards) and a long range (800, 900 & 1k).

We have 5 levels of classification in both mid and long range. If both are fired during a match it makes for extra work. The top class is high master. To make HM you must average 98% or higher for 120 consecutive reported shots.

I hope to see you in Raton.

Hi Larry,

Thanks for the replies. Our team is committed to attending all 3 matches. All are looking forward to the challenge of traveling and competing overseas, and mixing it with the best our sport has to offer. The knowledge and friendships that they will bring back with them will be priceless.

See you at Raton!

Rod. You're not scared are you?

Good day!!

Man Oh Man - this is what I like about F-Class and particularly the US way.
To make it clear - long range for F-Class, this is what it is about.
My personal view is 300-700y should be called F-class Light.

I am glad to see new southern shooters moving to attend real shoots :!:
With Mr Bartholome in charge it will be a pleasant shoot - I can confirm this from experience, shooting shoulder to shoulder with him :!:
The best way to scout for 2013 FCWC - you will never regret :!:

Best wishes with the prep for those who plan to shoot with us in Raton.
See you there :!: :!:

Well, its looking like we have enough to make an F/TR team, with at least one shooter shooting F Open in the individuals, possibly more to follow. Any others out there thinking about it?

Thanks go to those team names listed above. Without them stepping forward, Australia would still be without a team. I applaud them.
:)

Thank you all for your good wishes, and support, they will be passed onto the team members that do not visit here. We will be doing our very best for Australia, and agree the information we return with will be worth it's weight in nuggets for 2013.

Now that people can see there is a team, and we are going...

We can run with this team as it stands, but we also have room for another shooter if anyone is interested. Please contact me by the end of the month.
