You all should also experience the Pt Augusta TRIFLE yumm that's coming up in a few weeks.
I did suggest that they make that a prize
Pt August will also be interesting with a 500m fly night shoot whoohoo!

Kapunda's OPM today proved to be a tougher event than has been shot in the last two years. The usual calm conditions were replaced by fish tailing winds and dust getting blown in clouds across the range.

I saw a young junior named Alex (12 yo) come third outright in FS beating some very good and talented competition along the way. Lynn Otto took out a well deserved win in FS and I managed to complete my trophy set from Kapanda with a first place in FO. It took me three years to get the trophy and I really value the achievement.

The rain held off right until the running of the Stoeckel Memorial Shield for the top 5 TR shooters at the end of the day.

It was a great day and a very well run event and the roast lunch is still as good as ever. Pity about someones comment on this thread about sticky date pudding being an unfortunate name for such a delicious treat, it almost put me off

While I honestly think that Trevor very much deserved to win, I have to be my pedantic self and correct this, for what ever reason, possibly that one extra 'X', they gave the number 1 badge to me. Ian is right in that Trev certainly shot better overall, he calmly shot a 59 at 600 yd while most others were being whittled away to the mid or low 50's. Then was unfortunate enough to be on the mound at 700 when the squall that preceded the rain came through with gusts that no one could predict. He needed a five on his last shot but like so many others the target reported a 4.

I know I'm biased here since Alex is our grandson but he did indeed hold it together well considering the day. He started with a 59.4 at the 500, then was battered to a 50.0 at 600 which can be disheartening for most of us let alone a 12yo. He came back to shoot a 56.? at 700 and win the range (sorry can't remember the X count).

Another noteworthy score was a first ever F Class possible by Paul Bartel of Waikerie, Paul is a member here, so well done Paul.

All up the day was difficult but the company was great.

Sorry Lynn, I knew you had won it and even discussed it with Alex about the Otto, (and part Otto) 1, 2, 3 in FS. Congratulations Lynn on a great win and I promise never to make a post late at night (past my bedtime) ever again.

Well done to all those at Kapunda R.C. for hosting the event and putting up some great prizes and trophies (good work Adam). Conditions ranged from great to tough but it was an enjoyable shoot and the roast lunch and sticky date pudding were worth the entry fee by themselves.

Congrats to all the winners and also to Paul on shooting his first possible (60.6 @ 500yds) =D>

yep when i stood up at 700 with a 51 and no idea what the heck just happend i take my hat off to trev shooting a 59 with a rat gun :shock:

and to his 12yr old grandson only 1 point behind me!

congrats to paul he did exceptionally well with not only a possible but one of the best x counts on the day.

regardless of the results or the wind and rain i had a good day being back on the range around the "usual suspects"

I must say I enjoyed the day very much and say thank you to Tim, Adam, John and all who gave me little tips on my first outing at an OPM in FClass. Was certainly rapt in getting the 60.6 for an opener but then got badly caught out at the other two ranges, although still finished half way through the order, so I'm ready for the next one.

I hadn't been to the Kapunda OPM for about 15 years and had always wanted to get back to it. Well done KRC, Lynn and Ian
