New to F class and Melbourne

Post by Dobbo »

Hi all
I started shooting in WA with a club 308 and enjoyed the longer distances and have recently relocated to Melbourne.
I don't have my own rifle or shooters liscence yet so would need club support and rifle.
Can you give me some information on clubs/ranges that cater for the longer distances. I have tried most of the links but unfortunately most dont seem to tell me what ranges are available.
I am living on the eastern side (Ferntree Gully).
Thanks

Go To VRA web Site, click on Rifle Ranges.
Closest one to you would be Upper Yarra which goes from 3 to 700 yards. Clubs there are Lillydale and Diamond valley. Contacts are on VRA site.
If you want longer distances than 700 you will need to travel further-- Bacchus Marsh, Werribee, Geelong.

If you don't mind travelling, you can shoot 900 and 1000 yards at Rosedale. This range is very open and true, and there are 2 clubs that shoots on the range each week.

F Class Open / Standard and TR as well as FTR are all shot at this range. The level of competition is quite high too.
