This June long weekend myself and a couple of my North Sydney club mates decided to take our Open rifles to a shoot on at Eugowra (40 minutes west of Orange).
As with at lot of country shoots in NSW they didn't offer F Open but in typicall friendly country style let us shoot anyway. As we discovered there was the misconception that open still required its own target.
We shot at three ranges in tricky conditions and a good time was had by all.
After the shoot Eugowra Rifle Club announced F Open will now be included in their next OPM in October (sunday after the long weekend), good news for F Open in NSW.
Any F Open shooters within a reasonable distance of Eugowra put this one on your calender. Weve lost a number of F Open shoots in NSW over the years through lack of attendance, lets give these friendly folk at Eugowra our support.

Sounds like your trip was a stroke of Luck for Eugowra Ben F, they now know whats required in FO and hopefully can gain more shooters at their meeting or club because of it.
I do wonder how a club in this day and age can be so far behind the times though and im sure this isn't an isolated incident.
Perhaps we need a better way to communicate rule changes etc so these things dont happen, common knowledge may not be so common after all.

Good one Ben. I will pencil that one in my calender. I think a lot of the reason why some clubs dropped F Open at prize shoots was that in years past, the attendance was too small. With the increase in numbers now, and using the same targets, I,m hoping the tide will turn. Maybe then, Wingham will return to holding F Open again.

From Pye Street turn into Noble Street (alongside showground). Follow it to end. There is the farmhouse on right as track turns left and takes you to the range (about 500 mtrs from house).
This link should open on the map of Eugowra!(well it does on my computer)
