Quality brass also makes a difference. As an example at the recent QRA Queens I didn't have enough fireformed cases for the lead up and Queens, so with a few days before I was due to leave, I grabbed a new box of brass, pulled them out of the box (no prep at all) and loaded them with my standard load and decided to shoot them in the lead up, well got down at 300 not expecting to much. Well got up with a 60.9 with elevation about half the X ring.

Stop it! Now I'm thinking about how I might be able to extrude and deep draw brass to bullet jacket tolerances...one project at time...one project at a time.

if there is a total runout of 0.004, does this mean that the axis of the bullet is 0.004 or 0.002 off centre?
i know this is a dumb question, but i can't get my head around it.
keep safe,

Total Runout ( Total indicator reading ) of .004 means .oo2 off centre.

Assuming the body of the case is perfect, and the projectile is perfect, then total runout will be twice the axis deviation.
