Thought I would put something up for WA queens.
Just got to Perth for tomorrow's start but the dukes results from today can be found in the link below. Only 3 FO shooters in the dukes and Mark Hammersley is on top there, with no surprises in standard and Bill Hallam leading the way with his tack driving 308 only losing one point.

Now I have a nice belly full of beer and prawns I think it will be an early night before a day in the sun tomorrow.

Gents,
Today for the first 2 ranges of the queens prize, we had nice conditions for the afternoon. There is no link yet with scores but when there is, ill post one up as my memory isnt the best. See the WARA site for updates as they come about.
Everyone in Open shot well at the 300yd with myself getting a 58.3, Brad getting a 58.6, Mark getting a 59.xx (unsure on X count) and Andrew getting a 57.xx(unsure on x count), Im unsure on Alec. The 500yds wasnt much different with both Mark and Brad shooting possibles IIRC, Andrew shooting a 59, Alec im unsure again and myself only getting a 51.2 due to over correction of the scope for wind. She just danced around the 6 Ring.
Shooting against these gents has made me even more determined to shoot F-Open more and to build a dedicated open rifle as soon as funds allow.
Hope the SA guys are having just as much fun

Righto, day 2 was a little harder. With the chance of being caught in the switch between land and sea breeze looming I personally was dreading it, especially with only 3-4hrs sleep after a bit of a scare with the little one. Nothing a fix of McDonalds coffee couldnt sort out though.
Quite a few people have raccoon eyes from the sun as it was pretty bright and warm out there today.
Im not sure how things are looking in TR, but there were quite a few good hits today 50.9 amongst them.
In FS Bill Hallam looks the man to beat still followed by Graham Oates and Rod Rees.
In FO Im personally enjoying a really close duel with Mark Hammersley who has his 6.5x55AI humming with lapua scenars.
900 and 1000yds tomorrow- with some nasty winds and a hot day forecast it has the potential to be train wreck central!
Scores in FO for the two days are below

Another day of the Queens - Mark and Brad both shot very well in tricky conditions in the morning - a few of us got caught out during the dreaded Subiaco switch and there were some pretty sorry people heading into lunch. The afternoon conditions settled and were more typical Swanbourne steady westerly that got more stable towards the end of the day.
At the end of the day Brad has pulled out a one point lead on Mark, with an impressive 60.6 at 800. I'd had to see what he can do when he isn't sleep deprived!
Shaun's showing what a well sorted tactical setup can do - it augers well for him if he decides to go the F/TR route.
Good competition and good company - it's what makes the Queens such a special event.
Cheers,
Andrew.

Just got back to the inlaws after a few "quiet ones" at the subiaco club rooms. That is a lie- the place is probably still cranking but 3 days in the sun and a few beers and Im toast.
Final placings in FS were
1. B. Hallam
2. R. Rees
3. G. Owen???
FO placings were
1. B. Yates
2. M. Hammersley
3. A. Lockwood
4. S. Stoffels
5. A. Woodgate
I cant remember scores but can say on behalf of everyone that was there... 32 degrees and blazing NE/ENE/NNE winds were killer at 1000yds. Any score over 40 was a good score, with only Mark Hammersley reaching the 50.
Many thanks to all the competitors who travelled interstate- it was great to see and meet people from all over Australia. Also to all the FO competitors- all really genuinely nice guys.
Will get pictures up tomorrow night when I get home- I took a few over the weekend.

Yep, hearty congrats to Brad for the win in FO and to Bill Hallam in FS.
Over the course of the comp we had light easterlies in the morning with a sea breeze coming in during the afternoon - until yesterday! Brad and I had been neck and neck up to that point. The easterly was stronger than usual and kept up all through the 900 and 1000 with frequent changes in strength. I crashed at the 900 while Brad handled it all with a cool head and definitely deserved the win!
It was a real pleasure meeting and shooting with a such a great bunch. I'm looking forward to doing it all again next year.
best regards
Mark

I should also note that the live streaming of scores over the internet seemed popular. I was getting home to comments like "what was that sighter doing out there?" or "that wasn't a good range" or "I saw a 2 come up on so and so's target, what happened there?" - my wife was watching the live scoring on her ipad from the comfort of our lounge room while we were being roasted on the range! The comments I heard from other shooters were all positive about the technology and the possibilities for assisting our sport into the future.
I'm sure there are improvements to be made but as a test I reckon it was a success.
best regards
Mark
