Who shoots a 300WSM?

Post by DenisA »

Hi Guys and Gals,

I've just spent some time today load testing 230g Hybrids and seating depth in my 300WSM for the longs and I'm starting to get some pretty promising results.
I'd think that driven well this should become a .284 EATER!

I'm just curious, who shoots the .300WSM, what bullet and how tight have you got it grouping?

Although irrelevant to my rifle, I'd love to hear loads that you have found successful in your rifles.

Cheers, Denis.

I,m here with a friend who has a new 300WSM which is one of the most accurate guns I have seen, sparking my curiosity as well. He is using 210gn VLDs jammed .010" with 69gns of 2213sc and BR2 primers.
It was very easy to tune straight away. He has ordered another barrel to try the 230s which look great ballisticly IF you can take the recoil without developing a flinch or shaking your scope apart.

210's behind 69g of AR2213sc must be moving. I'd guess around 3,000+ fps?

I've got the 230's running at ballpark 2730fps with 62.6g of 2213sc.

What brand of barrels is he using and has he had them chambered specifically for the long Bergers to use the full powder chamber?

Yes, this was the gun which won the NSDRA shoot.
It is doing 2950 fps +_ 4 fps. This barrel is throated for the 210 VLDs by Matt Paroz. His next barrel will be throated to suit 215 and 230gn Hybrids.

Mal. Our range told us 300 WMs were outside the range template as well, but when we pushed for the actual figures, we were inside the velocity and energy limits for our particular range. Some other ranges do have a ban on 300WMs still from what I have heard.

What sort of recoil figures are you dealing with ? It certainly sounds like it could be "challenging" !
I think I nearly developed a flinch just watching Bill Hambly-Clark Jnr shoot his 7 mmRSUM at Belmont in the Queens last August
Extreme accuracy and precision shooting at long range can be a very addictive pastime.

Someone is shooting a 30-338 lapua mag here. 12 shots and its funny seeing how far the person shooting is back down the shooting mat.

I have moved the range template discussion to Rules and the Future.
