Short Scrub Equivalent
I use Short Scrub as a powder solvent (it moves a bit of copper too especially if left in overnight). I'll be shooting in the US later in the year and I don't thinks its available there, plus I don't think it would be allowed on the plane. Does anyone know of a very similar US product? Note that I'm not asking for opinions on what's best, just for a similar product. I've tried bore-tech eliminator, but its obviously quite different (sticky), and Shooters Choice seems to be milder, although mixed with Kroil may be similar. And I believe you can still get GMTEC in the US. Any advice appreciated.

alan,
hoppes no 9 will do a good job on carbon, and a bit of soaking combined with a bit of bronze brushing will shift a bit of copper.
boretech eliminator will shift copper better than hoppes, and hoppes after boretech will get rid of the boretech.
keep safe,

I used short scrub as a powder solvent but ran out and it isn't available any more. I switched over to Hoppes No.9 Solvent and find it's similar to short scrub. I find Hoppes works pretty well as a first pass before using a dedicated copper solvent and will remove a little bit of copper o/night too. Hoppes No.9 is very popular in the US and every gun shop will likely stock it.

The last lot of hoppes I got was useless. I reckon they have changed something with it. Found it better to pour on the garden weeds. The pro shot solvent is very good. Ive been using subaru upper engine cleaner similar to GMTEC apparently but the pro shot looks to be every bit as good upon borescope inspection and removes copper alot better.

Thanks for the advice. Not sure which way to go yet. As I said I'm keen to get something as similar as possible to Short Scrub. It seems its mainly used in Vic (still available at the VRA) so maybe most of you haven't used it. From my own experience Shooters Choice combined with Kroil seemed similar, and they are both available in the US, so that's the most likely one at this stage.

Ahh the old Channel No.9 for Hoppes No.9 trick. The wife never got that one.
