Remington clone actions

Post by Pete N »

Can the members provide me a list of suppliers in Aust. for Remington clone actions - single shot left hand short action with .062 firing pin hole? I'm tired of my factory Rem 700 - difficult to load up for with the large firing pin cutting neat little disks out of primers in my .223. Looking at both .223 and .308 bolt faces. Prices please. PM me if you don't want to advertise too much.

Tks and regards

It would be more cost effective to bush your Remington bolts & reduce the firing tips to .062". This should always be done with cartridges using small primers & heavy bullets.

I agree with Keith, a bushing the firing pin will stop your issues and be a lot cheaper than buying a couple of actions. To give you an idea a Stiller Tac30 is $1440 posted.

I have been down the path of spending lots of money bushing, truing and all that BS on a Remington action when Barnard offer actions that are strong , have tiny firing pin holes in there bolts and bolts are off the shelf fit what ever caliber you want to change too. Also parts are readily available.
I wish I was a Barnard dealer or I got $1.00 every time I mentioned Barnard

Not all is lost Paul, you're still planning on charging $5 at the NQRA Queens each time you turn a trick in the showers ? :).

Remington clone actions

Thanks to all for your imput.

Have decided to take up Keith's advice to rebush my rem700 bolt face.

Paul - already have a Barnard P in .308. Shoot TR, Optical (currently) and F Class with it - love it. Keeping the Rem700 in .223 as a back up rifle and to shoot the shorts.

Thanks again. Regards and happy trails

Update on bushing my Rem700 .223 - received my bolt back from Keith Hills within one and a half weeks. My brother in law shot it last Saturday in our local competition - best score for him ever. No cratering and no little disks cut out of primers. javascript:emoticon(':D'):D Can concentrate on adding a little more powder now!!!

Thanks again Keith.

Regards and happy trails
