Some Software

Post by pjifl »

I am trying to collect together various pieces of software I have written and get them up on the web.
Many of these are now quite old. They may contain some bugs and may also show their age.
Some may not like to run under newer versions of Windows.

But, among them, there is useful material. All free.

At present, I have tidied up two programs which may be of interest.

One showing the effect of Cant on precision long range shooting which is an eyeopener to many and the other a simulation running a newcomer through flag reading and sight settings during a shoot.

I hope these links all work. If not, please let me know.

sites.google.com/site/pjshootingstuff/

Hopefully I will get more up eventually but its a big job.

Peter, thanks for making this great body of work available. At the moment, Google is saying it can't find the requested URL upon download. That's out of my league. I'm sure its a simple fix. Regards, David.

You need to select the 'download' arrow at the right of the screen when you select the program you want rather than selecting the Program zip link.

Cheers

I have no idea what problems are occurring or why !
Perhaps someone with more experience of web stuff might be able to help ?

I can latch onto the site by pasting
sites.google.com/site/pjshootingstuff/
into my browser which is 'Chrome'

I see that it then seems to connect via
https://sites.google.com/site/pjshootingstuff/
which may be part of the problem.

Once you get the site, you should be presented with a simple menu, two items of which are 'CANT' and 'TOPSCORE'

These lead to pages which have a description of the program plus a way to download a zipped file.

I would appreciate help here and would like to know if anyone has managed to

1/ Reach this site.
2/ Download a file.
3/ Get a copy of the Program to run.

No doubt the problem is simple, so once it has been solved I should be right from then on.

Peter

I have done exactly as you suggested and easily downloaded Topscore to my computer using Firefox. It runs perfectly under Windows Vista. Many thanks for your efforts.

Peter,

All is well. Thanks David for the tip, I used the arrow on the right hand side and it all downloaded perfectly. For others, who use later Windows, I went into the application exe file properties by right clicking on it and selecting ""Properties". Under the tab "Compatibility", I selected run as "XP service pack 3" and ticked the box , as well as checked, "Run as Administrator". Hope this helps those who want to use the files on newer machines. I am using Windows 7.

Once again Peter, thankyou for your time and effort. I'm sure a lot of new shooters will benefit. David.

Thanks for the conformation that it is working OK.

I will gradually move other material to this site or some other related site referenced from this site and leave a short note to let people know.

But it is a big project among many others.
