I should have reported back on this earlier in the week.

Anyway it was a good day, only 7 turned up, but weather was fine and everyone seemed to get their gear sorted and try a few new loads etc. We shot at 100 yards for most of the morning then did the last part from 200. I honestly don't know how the 500m fly fellas can see bullet holes. We had some light mirage, and it was very difficult, even with spotting scopes on tripods. When we shoot 300 it'll be to the normal manned targets with every shot spotted, so mirage will not be a problem. We had a couple of braked rifles, one being a tactical style 300 Win Mag. We thought they should shoot in their own relay because of noise, but the others didn't seem to care. So all in all, a good bunch of shooters, and if we keep getting those sorts of numbers, I think the event will keep happening, although maybe not every month. For example the next one will likely be in February, because some probably will be still holidaying in Jan. I'll report back on this forum prior to the February event.

Just depends on the atmospheric conditions and target face Alan. Shooting the SSAA Combined Services comps on the Dookie range I've been able to see the holes at 500 through my beloved Leupold 8.5 - 24
