Hi Guys
I have been using the Russian made PMC primers for a few years now and have had some really nice consistent loads working very well with no hang or miss fires ever! But walking into QStore to get some more on the weekend I was told they no longer sell them!!
I'm just wondering what other guys out there are using? My .308 with 2206H and .284 with 2209 are starving for some reloads so need to find a primer quick. I have used the Federal Match Gold before and have found them to be alright but never been wowed by them.
CCI BR-2 is what I'm thinking of looking at next, but really keen to see to what others are using and have success with??
Thanks
George

Re: Primer Choices
George, there is no substitute for trying a few brands up close, in 10 shot groups, even Winchester to see if there are no vertical strings with known pet loads. Each barrel is different because each has a different pressure profile. I do this before load development. It can also be a seasonal thing irrespective of powder burning rate depending on temperature to ensure compatibility. My preference has been for the CCI. David.

Re: Primer Choices
I was using PMC mag LR primers (made in Russia) with 2206H 8 years ago and vertical was brilliant in the barrel being used.
I currently have 1500 sitting in the cupboard just I case I need them in the future.
PMC do not make primers(or brand them PMC) anymore, but, if you shop around the gun shops you may find Russian primers with the brand name Murom. In all respects they are out of the same place that PMC sourced their primers. If you compare all the writing on the box, about the only wording that is different is the omission of PMC for Murom. Even the box colour and design are the same.
I picked up a thousand+ six of months ago from our local gun shop and they are only just over half the price of US primers so they sell rather quick.
Like David, I have a preference for CCI, both LR and SR mag (for Palma Lapua brass) as I find they are remarkably consistent lot to lot. I do buy my primers three thousand at a time and then only from the same batch number.

Re: Primer Choices
Thanks for the replies guys, I got an email from QStore saying PMC are no longer Russian made so have stopped stocking and after a ring round today of other shops it looks like I'll be going down and getting a few brands and seeing how they all differ
Thanks
George
