Well just cracked my second 4kg of 2209 in about 5yrs (6.5x47 doesn't eat much!)
The new batch is MEM5273 and just curious whether people think it's a relatively fast or slow batch compared to others? Just wondering if I should load my normal charge or approach it with a bit of caution and do a work up with a chronograph?

Re: 2209 batch speed?
I have been using lot #5010 for the last 3-4 years or so and just switched to MEM5273. I found I had to load about .3gns less in a 284 to get the same speed, so it is marginally faster than my old lot of powder but from what I have heard is not as fast as some other recent extra fast batches.

So it may be somewhere in the middle. My last batch was 4714 so even earlier than yours Rod!
Re: 2209 batch speed?
Im onto 5331 as my next lot but still have a few kg's of an older lot. A few people here have apparently had pierced primers with this lot. My small amount of testing in the dasher has shown its a little faster but nothing to be worried about. 0.2gr less and its probably going to be the same velocity. Cant hurt to drop a grain and work up with the aid of the chrony again mate.
