BERSIN Ammunition Measuring and Adjustment Device

Post by phillh »

Good morning all,

Does anyone know where I can buy one of these, to suit .308?

Has anyone used one before, and if so what are the pros and cons with it? What others do you prefer?

Thanks and look forward to the replies.

Phil I use one of these Hornady concentricity tools. Seems to work OK. Ammo can be checked quickly and corrected if needed. Takes a little while to get the right feel for the amount of adjustment required.

I bought a Bersin years ago.
Not worth wasting money on!
Too erratic on measurement and really meant to reduce run out on poor factory ammo!

The main problem I had was loosening the bullet in the case. If you needed too many moves to get it straight case mouth would loose its grip. If you have any helpful info on the item I would be interested in hearing/reading about it. Otherwise it makes a good curiosity catcher.

Thanks Steve,
I have used one of those before and was concerned with the amount of brass filings piling up from the way the projectiles are held/located! Also the case is held from the base. Is that accurate enough or would running the case body on V Blocks be better?

Phil I certainly haven't had any brass filings when using mine. Only light spring pressure is needed to hold the cartridge between centers then the dial indicator rests gently on the projectile just forward of the case mouth. I find it useful for confirming everything is straight. Runout can be adjusted out but you are better off finding the cause and preventing it.
