Anyone using Hornady 6mm, 105gn BTHP Match projectiles

Post by Norm »

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has been using these projectiles and if so how impressed by them are you.
Do they like a jump or jam?
What speed do they like to be run at?
I have noticed that the base to Ogive length is different by 0.040" from one box to another.
I have been trying them in a Dasher with mixed results.

G'day Norm,

I used these projectiles in a Savage Model 12 6BR, factory barrel.
I jammed them 0.015" plus and ran them at around 2890 fps.
In this factory barrel they shot just as well as Bergers or Scenars
at a cheaper price.

cheers,
Chris

I have a box I'm messing around with. Was using Berger 105 Hybrids, but as theses are becoming difficult to source, and have been looking at other alternatives. Have found they seem to be a larger diameter as they seat a lot firmer using the same bushing and neck sizing regime I used for the hybrids. Found they haven't shot as well as the hybrids to date, but haven't don't a lot of testing yet, will let you know how I go.
