Erraticness

Post by leadlauncher »

G,day.

I am a Noobie to F class. Shot 600 M yesterday with my 44B Omark, which was my first time with it, although it has been around since whenever, s/n SDU009.
Wind was 3 mph from left. Held centre with Nightforce NXS. Fired sighters, a five and a six. Next shot was 3 minutes high @ 1 o'clock. Next shot was 2 minutes low at 6 o'clock. Now I was not conscious of pulling the shots at all. Maybe I did but they "felt" the same as the sighters.

Is this a bedding problem do you think? The crown looks ok. It was NRAA 155 grain Palma Ammo out of a new box.

Cheers if you can enlighten me.

Leadlauncher,
Where to start? It could one or a number of things possibly not quite right.
Is the scope new or secondhand? if secondhand it needs to be tested on target to make sure it tracks but then your problem maybe something else.
So, a course of elimination, check your bedding, easy to pull it apart to check for bits where it may be rubbing, look for a shiny spot. If it's all good there, how many rounds has the barrel done? NRAA loaded ammo isn't the best for F-class but should give you a reasonable hit. Hand loaded ammo would/should be better.
What front & rear rest do you have? it must be stable especially at the rear as this may cause vertical shots.
Have a known F-class shooter use it as well to eliminate your technique. Is the trigger set correctly?
So easy to fix, just a course of elimination and ask your club mates for help.

Hi Mate , good to see another newbie!
I'll second the advice above and ...

Could be cheek or downward shoulder pressure on ur stock that will send it high . White knuckle grip on ur pistal grip will send it low! Could also be ur rear bag too! Good luck ! Regards Graham.

Loose screws? :) Check all the rail and ring screws, surprising what happens, even under slight/light recoil.
