Sick of not being able to get any Berger 105gr VLD's and down to my last 40 or so I found a good supply of Sierra's and bought 1000 with an option for another 2000
Just interested to hear if anyone has used them in the past and were there any issues i should be aware of?
The guns's a 6BR 1:8 twist
thanks in advance,
Steve

Re: 6mm 105gr Sierra's
Steve, I have every confidence in the Sierra. Last year I tried a few 6 mm chamberings with both Sierra and Berger as an experiment. Sierra in the Long Dasher proved to be the most accurate. I think each barrel is different and I take no notice of what's fashionable and test it. Some years ago a 284/6mm Shehane used by the master who invented the case set a record at 1000 yards. Its a chambering I had and am thinking of pulling out the old reamer for again, just for kicks. Shehane happened to have used a Sierra because the jackets held up when others failed. Have to suck it and see. But with all bullets, sort them. David.

Thanks David.
The Berger supply issue is so frustrating given how much prices have risen. It's a dark day when Sierra match kings are half the price of Bergers

Re: 6mm 105gr Sierra's
Peter, I sourced mine through usedguns.com.au when things were getting tight and the VRA was dry some time ago. Check the websites of the various state associations to see what they have. With any of these things you have to buy enough to last the life of the barrel these days of the same batch. Have seen the odd lot for sale on Ozfclass, but I think they went to SW Victoria. The controlled supply of product these days is a bit like De Beers and diamonds. Demand in the perfect model is meant to call forth production. Its monopolistic and oligopolistic competition even for components if you want to roll your own. Good luck. David.

Thanks David. It's getting to the stage not to practice at all to preserve whatever you got.

Having very favourable results with the Sierra 107's in a 6br for my club shooting so as to not burn up valuable 7mm gear. But price wise sadly they aren't much cheaper than the bergers. I think they are a great bullet though.
Re: 6mm 105gr Sierra's
It is true about the price.Sometimes sierras are dearer than bergers.Everything is far more expensive in Aussieland as far as shooting stuff goes.
