NATIONAL MATCH RIFLE & LONG RANGE F CLASS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Post by Cliff Austen »

The 2018 National Match Rifle and Long Range F Class Championships followed by the Ultra Long Range Challenge will be held at Coonabarabran from the 2nd to the 7th October 2018.
Competition will be over 1000, 1100 and 1200 yards followed by the ULRC at 1500 yards.
See the Australian Match Rifle web site for all the details.

If you want to add a bit of cream to the icing, you can start with the Coonabarabran OPM on the 29th and 30th September.
Where else in Australia can you get 7 days of shooting competition from 500 metres to 1500 yards?

Cheers

No, not Campbell Town Tasmania.
The post reads COONABARABRAN.
THAT IS, COONABARABRAN NSW.
In fact, with the practice day thrown in plus the teams event and a couple of other activities there is a total of 10 days shooting available to the keen long range marksman over the October Long Weekend and the following week.
Cheers

Just stirring the pot Cliff. I am well aware of how your initial post reads, in closing it asked, "Where else in Australia.......". I simply gave the obvious answer.

See you in Coona.

Cliff, I don't want to be rude but if the National Champs are being held in Tasmania this year I suspect the numbers will be down?

Hey Cliff,
Can you confirm the entry fees?
Is state team and individual comp $540 or dose the $310 include the individual comp?
Thanks
Tim

Tim
The cost for the individual shoot is $230. That covers you for 10 ranges over 4 days. Plus if you want to shoot in the Siegloff/Simms Pairs that is also covered in your $230.
The next cost, for individual shooters, is the $50 in the Ultra Long Range Challenge shooting 2 stages @ 1500 yards. 15 shots each stage.
The $310 fee is paid by the State Associations as the entry fee for the Teams. it is not paid by the shooters.
So Tim, if you shoot the Individual matches and the Ultra Long Range you will be up for $280 in entry fees.
cheers

Is there an energy limit on this range? Coonabarabran?

As far as I am aware, the range has a muzzle energy limit of 5675 joules.

The limits are in accordance with the SSR's for F Open.
Coona is a 7.62 Classification range. Any calibre up to 8mm. Energy is not to exceed 4182 ft-lbs or 5675 joules.
Cheers. Cliff.

I see the teams event has no sighters at 1200 yds.
If the competition is close it could be won or lost on the first shot- no pressure there for the team shooter
Adds another challenge to the game.

I notice it's state teams for FO but teams for FTR. What's the go? Hope to get some composite teams to get the event started? I don't think the flyer specifies team composition.
