Yes.... the NRAA Sent 500 of my 224 caliber 80 grain VLD to the NRAA about 7-8 years ago am still waiting for a response!! Dont know what ever happen to them or even if they bothered tested them. I think the NRAA Board menbers are there to look after themselves, you only have to look at JLK bullets it was only the fact that Jan Dyer was on the board and Bob Dyer imported them that they got excepted a good example of the boards infuence on what the members use!! Have no problems suppling bullets they just need to accepted “ Copperhead Bulletsl Cheers Ken Melgaard Copperhead Bullets
As the NRAA gunsmith at that time I tested & reported on these bullets along with the JLK bullets. My report recommended the approval of Ken's bullets on the basis of quality & being Australian made. I never had any response to my recommendation. Consequently the JLK's were approved .........for whatever reason!!!! Keith H.
I’m looking forward to trying out Kens 7 mm pills ! With Berger stuffing us Aussie shooters around . It maybe a good time to support the local product . I know Cam Mc used 103 in his dasher and I think Julie still does ! Apparently a new 180 gr pill is in the works that is close to the bergers .
bruce moulds wrote:"the nraa's cut" the bullet tax. rumour has it that there is discussion at high levels to limit fopen and ftr bullets, so a similar tax can be put in place. argument being that fstd and tr is shouldering an unfair financial burden compared to ftr and fopen. when thay had control of the tax, they even managed to stuff that up. there are many ways to raise money other than a bullet tax, which is just a copout method. another thought is that if you limit bullet choices, you have to guarantee supply, and they have to be of competitive quality and design to what the rest of the world uses. keep safe, bruce.
This bullet tax you speak of that’s supposed to be the nraa’s cut is not well known to me but wouldn’t it be not a thing if you were buying projectiles direct for instance from dyer or the likes of reloaders haven etc.???
Well I don't know about the rest of you, but I like buying Aussie. It took me a while but I got my all Aussie rifle (Nightforce was the closest I could get for scope though) With ADI brass still able to contain and shoot my 2209 load and Ken making bullets I'll be supporting him. The point to note is that I have not had to compromise on any element of my rig. It is all world class gear, put together by world class armoures and will be shooting world class ammunition. All I need to do is find aussie primers and I'll be full on Australian shooter,,,,, oh and learn to shoot, that might help.
