22 BR

Post by scott/r »

Just a couple of quick questions relating to the 22BR round. They'll help make my mind up as to whether I bother with it or not.
Q1. What powder would you run in it with 80 grn projectiles in a 1:8 barrel?
Q2. Can I use 6BR dies (including the seating die) and just change the bushing in the neck die?
Thanks
Scott.

Cool, thanks, I should have thought of this myself.
They state imr4350, is that equivalent to 2208 or 2209 in the adi powder?

H4350 is 2209 made by adi and sold as h4350 by Hodgdon in the USA.

The 6BR FLS die with a smaller bushing will be OK for forming cases, and sizing them after firing. The 6BR seater die will usually not work with a 22BR, so it is likely that you will either have to buy a 22BR seater, or maybe get your gunsmith to run the chamber reamer into a die blank.
Either 2208 or 2209 will work well with 22BR and 80gn pills, depending on your particular barrel. You should try both as the 22BR is sort of in between each as a favourite.
